Yeah I find it bizarre when people bash it as if it's the worst Bond film or something.
I honestly think it's just because it's after Casino Royale which I too will admit was a superior film.
Quantum was phenomenal though, I don't understand how anyone could say that it's not, but that's just me :)
QOS is way better than its rep, relentlessly intense. In future, it will be regarded as Craig's best, I've no doubt.
Well, no BIG doubt.
I second that, QoS has balls for sure. If Bond from QoS was the Bond in SF he would have taken out Silva alot quicker IMO.
I just can't believe he left me out in the desert ._.
And that motor oil tasted like sh*t.

This is funny: what would that villain or forgotten character be saying? What did Quantum say to Fields or Greene when each of them was found etc..?
What was on Cmaille's mind when she got dropped off at the train station? What if she found out that the train station was defunct?
What if Yusef did not go back to his apartment and instead went over to Corrine's for the night? Oops!
The cruise company Royal Caribbean reveald the names of their newest ships today. One of them is called " Quantum Of The Seas " . And the type of the new ships is called " The Quantum Class ". What do you say, have Quantum expanded into the shipping buisness? ;)
Plus, the girl doesn't die. ;)
I love the villain and the evil plot to control the water.
Careful now, I've gotten flack for less than that... :))
It's like saying God created the earth in 7 days. We all know it's bollocks, but some people will tell you the sky is green if they have to. :)
I'd say his vision is impaired, as is someone's who hides behind the teachings of fiction, and doesn't open their eyes to what's right there in front of them.
Well, for one the acting does feel more natural in Quantum of Solace. Nowhere are scenes like that scene taking place at M's apartment in Casino Royale. Every time I watch that scene, it feels flat, too stagey and "made for the trailer". I didn't actually notice similar scenes in Quantum.
Closest I can think of M's lecture at Bond's hotel room. But it still feels more natural.
Indeed! I call Craig's first three The M Trilogy. :)
DC was so good in it. JD too.
Definitely my fave from Craig.
The reason I rate it over CR and SF is just that it's pacier, it has some genuinely classic Bond moments and it's just more enjoyable. It's not a great Bond but it is the best since Dalton IMO.
B-)
Only gripe I have with the film is that it's over too early (wouldn't mind if there wasn't that four year gap between it and SF), losing the original ending with Mr. White and the editing. Other than that. it's Craig's LTK :D
Okay, you've lost me here.
By the way, it isn't like Craig Bond's LTK at all. More like Camille's LTK to be honest...
I like it but I think great is a bit of a stretch.
It has some good scenes, fights and character moments. The cinematography looks great, Craig is good and the score is very good. But it also has....
Bad editing because they tried to copy Bourne, the worst theme song of the series, the worst title of the series, a shoved in Goldfinger reference, a storyline about water that isn't involving or intresting that takes much needed screen time away from the Vesper arc, a forgettable villian, too much action for it's short run time, a very fake looking free fall sequence, a script that's all over the place, forgettable characters, the worst henchman of the series, etc.
I think it's too heavily flawed to be called great. I reserve great for films like the Dalton films.
It is funny, it is a trivial details that I thought I was the only one to notice.
Anyway, I also appreciate Arnold's score. It's one of his best. Gone are the techno sounds, some complain about his scores. DA really brought some flavor in the scenes taking place in Haiti and Bolivia.
Absolutely. Superb analysis.Well done.
