Sorry, I was meaning why do you think homage is the way to go?
I'm totally digging the white tux and the throwbacks to 'Live and Let Die' and 'Goldfinger.' The blue color is very bold and kind of carries over from 'Skyfall's teal blue/green. I really like that DC has a silenced PPK, which hasn't been seen before in his films, apart from the Casino Royale theatrical poster. The background from the Day of the Dead festival is meh. I think it could have had a better background. Overall, a very classic poster. Rating: 7.5/10.
Don't think he's ever done Bond... but man I love this guy's work.
You've still yet to say why this poster is better than the CR teaser.
Sorry, this "poster war" got a bit messy (not because of me) I don't normally post the same stuff several times. I certainly don't think that makes it more believable, I'm not delusional (I hope) :))
The CR Teaser was great, I like it very much. Since then everything was kind of boring, forgettable or downright awful like the SF poster b/w poster.
As I have explained enough times (as you said) I don't need to do it again why I like the new poster so much.
I'd rate it over CR's teaser poster because at the moment I do like very much the simplistic colourful approach that seems to be the flavour of the month so to speak.
The UNCLE poster for instance (the one with the colosseum in the background) with vivid colours I like a lot too.
It's entirely possible that in another couple of years the CR poster will be my favourite again. I do own it by the way, it is framed on the wall in my office.
No, sorry. I don't like this. Bond isn't a blunt instrument anymore. We need to see his Tom Ford white tuxedo in great detail. Your example reminds me of a bad-ass Tarantino movie...not James Bond.
Otherwise Daniel Craig looks good but that's definitely more like a fan art. Not bad but clearly not good enough due to the money spent for the movie.
It's a spacing issue - not enough space on the billing block to have him and Jesper Christensen in. :P
Comparing this to the Skyfall poster billing blocks - Whishaw was similarly the big absence. This billing block looks like the biggest of all the Craig films. Including Craig, CR had 5 names, QoS had 6, SF had 7 and SP has 8.
Also poor Rory Kinnear :/
Totally awesome. A thousand times better than what we got. I'd pay good money for this.
I've seen better from AgentJamesBond007, JCRendle, RC7, MaddelineSwann and so on and on. Their artworks urinate all over the official stuff despite being so derided repeatedly here as "fan art"
Here's a new shot of the poster with Swann attached:

There will be more with other characters of the movie.
The colouring in the poster and that standee is a stroke of genius.
I like it a lot too. But I also think you're exaggerating a bit :-). Without the glasses it could be a very good poster for the upcoming Jason Bourne film. The official posters we have had so far are almost not interchangeable with other franchises.
And why do you find the above poster 'awesome', if the one down below is considered 'bad':
Both posters show Bond 'in action'. And I do find the one from "Skyfall" slightly more original then.
STUNNING!! Reminds me of the "Casino Royale" Poster with Vesper at the back. But damn, LOOK how self-assured 007 looks now after 4 films! LOO7 UP! LOO7 DOWN! LOO7 AT THEM!!
Much, much better indeed (although it still looks like it was designed for a little box rather than for a tall poster IMO). And many will think the person behind is a third character, which makes it even more balanced. Yep, knowing it's Bond behind somehow twists the poster a bit too much, doesn't it ?
Agreed. I'm not sure why they're running with it. The scenes in the trailer look like a period piece too. The snow scenes feel more up to date to me.
As for it being a work of genius, the bar for genius has been significantly lowered if that's the case. Either that, or @BondJasonBond006 is in training for the hyperbole world championships.
Well, with your reactions you are most certainly on the other end of the "SPECTRE"um :-). You 6000% disagree with @BondJasonBond006, yes, I see that. But I think you're equally talking in hyperboles :-).
This movie is directed by Sam "Old ways are the best" Mendes :)
I don't likemuch SF and the script of SP was big letdown for me, but if Mendes gives EON a feeling the time has come to make remakes, I will have a globally positive opinion of him. Yes, I know I'm in the minority here.
