GF- gold seems to permeate the whole film so 8/10

OHMSS- You can almost feel the cold of the Alps so 10/10
DAF- the glitter and sheen of LV works so 7/10
LALD- Brings out the exotic side of N'Awlins 7/10
TMWTGG- The Far East really glows in this 8/10
TSWLM- There is a Claude Renoir burnish to the whole thing 10/10
MR- visually spectacular and stunning SFX 10/10
FYEO- warm sunny Meditterranean feel to whole thing - 7/10
OP- India glows on screen - 8/10
AVTAK- Landmarks of the world nicely photographed 6/10
TLD- Gorgeous photography of the desert light 9/10
LTK- A step down, dont really get the best out of their locations 6/10
GE- Metallic and uninteresting, some good stuff 6/10
TND- uninspiring locations and Hamburg looks average 6/10
TWINE- drab, uninteresting locations dully shot 5/10
DAD- cgi and papier mache ice palaces 5/10
CR- Sweeping scale shots of Venice and Montenegro 8/10
QOS- South America comes alive in perhaps the most photogenic fil 9/10

But CR looked exquisite to me. First of all the cinematography was in aid of the film but it was also interesting and beautiful. Several shots that would have been very "standard" in another film were made interesting through angle, composition, and lighting. Like Bond leaping off of the tractor in the construction site:

And that's not even counting some of the interesting choices - black and white PTS, the fuzzy/overexposed film when Bond is suffering from poisoning, the confused POV when he's carried from the wreck of the Aston Martin - interesting but not so artsy and overdone to distract from the film (cough*QoS*cough). And the colours really popped in that film. Most beautifully shot Bond film of all, IMHO.

Tomorrow Never Dies- Roger Elswit, also did Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
The World Is Not Enough- Adrian Biddle, also did Aliens, Princess Bride, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, V For Vendetta.
Die Another Day- David Tattersall, also did Star Wars eps I & II, The Matador, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, Speed Racer.

Deakins also did another favorite of mine: The Shawshank Redemption
I read an article on him and he said that (paraphrasing now ...) some people thought it was just natural light, no special lighting. But he had to light everything like crazy, apparently - the inside of the prison was tricky lighting because everywhere was dark and he had to make it visible and yet look like natural lighting.
The man is a genius. He and Freddie Young (YOLT, Doctor Zhivago, and Lawrence of Arabia), both geniuses. Just outstanding.
I am dying to know the cinematographer for Bond 24. Man, I hope we learn that this summer.
My big surprise was Adrian Biddle for TWINE (he ALSO did Willow, Thelma & Louise and Stallone's Judge Dredd); now I know why it had that inky, moody look to it.
