My thoughts:
Thunderball is a deserving winner, it's certainly in my top 3. I lost interest after The Living Daylights was eliminated prematurely. That stands as the most provocative Bond poster in my rankings. I have been waiting until the end to say that I think Skyfall was missing its quintessential poster (at least here in the US). This is the poster I fondly remember seeing outside of my local cinema:
TLD was my favourite. I'm sentimental to GE too as I remember seeing giant advertising boards of it as a kid and wished I was old enough to see it at the cinema.
The most iconic one must be Connery's crossed-arm pose on the FRWL poster, but fighting to keep LALD in the running (my favorite) kept me from voting for FRWL.
All the love for AVTAK was a surprise, I guess the colors are nice and for many it seems to have been their first Bond experience, but the way Bond and Stacy are arranged, they should fall off, and who is Roger shooting at, when the enemy is behind him? Often a detail spoils the experience for me.
And: Skyfall #1 (the one in the tunnel) on #28? Seriously? For me it is one of the best ideas since the Moore era. A touch of color would have been nice, but given time, it will probably end up in higher esteem in the future.
I must say though, on the whole, I do prefer the British Quad versions in practically every instance anyway. The art work is either the same and better laid out, OR in the case of titles such as FRWL and TLD, different but far more fitting the overarching motif of Bond posters.
Its definitely the one non-bond aficionados recognize. :)
I was reminded of this recently, as a local hotel has a transvestite show, or drag show if you will this summer, and the advertising poster is clearly a homage to the FYEO poster.
