4 of my Top 5. I couldn’t really be mad about any ordering of these classics.

And yet, could you really see OHMSS with Connery ? Would be tough, since they did more lighthearted films with him, 5 in a row. Not lighthearted as much as Moore's films, or as much as DAD, but, would it have been a shock ? And - would it have worked if Connery did not show up in shape ? He could have, and did, for other films he made around that time, and some of those were quite serious. Just, it would have been quite a shift. I'm sure that part of it is just that I already know Connery for his seven films, and I already have experienced OHMSS with Lazenby, young, fit, ready to fight and well, and so on.
And if Connery would be in it, it will be different that's for sure, I've read somewhere that there's a scene where Connery is using a submarine Aston Martin to save Tracy, ok thanks it didn't happened.
So had Connery continued they would not have followed the book as much ? Talk about painting yourself into a corner. If Tracy does not die, then what of their relationship in following films ?

FRWL is my favourite Bond film and I think that's going to be the case for a long time. Syfall, apart from some script contrivances which I can go along with, is a unique film in the series and I always get something new out of it every time I rewatch it. OHMSS is a gem of the series, although Lazenby's performance is horrendously inconsistent for me which takes me out of it, and there are some things that don't translate well from novel to screen (Bond threatening to quit the service being one of them). I like CR a lot but don't personally find it the masterpiece a lot of Bond fans do. Always a pleasure to rewatch it though.
My alternate universe is if snow filming would have worked out in 1966, then OHMSS follows TB. They should have backed up a Brinks truck to Connerys house for him to do OHMSS after he quit. Perhaps he changes his mind.
