Oops indeed! I can't believe I haven't thought of it!
I'd definitely say you should only introduce yourself as James Bond if your name is James Bond :)
We did have a guy join the company the other day whose name is Austin Powers :) And yes, born before the films and was born with the name :)
Me neither. Just an odd coincidence.
It would've been more interesting if the next line in the song would be 'along with the rest of him'.
In the trailer, at the end the UA studio credit is tacked on and includes the Transamerica logo. I seem to remember when the film was released it just had a generic UA credit at the beginning. According to what I read, Transamerica left the filmmaking part of it in 1980 and the trailer has pretty much all the footage that had been shot and had to be released in '81, so I'm curious as to why the Transamerica logo was still there.
The other thing was in the Inside FYEO making-of feature, Sir Rog is seen in video and photos with a cigarette in his hand. I knew he was a cigar smoker and think he smoked during The Saint, but had never seen him smoking cigarettes during this phase of his career. Was he against smoking cigarettes as Bond?
Think Roger wanted to distance himself as much as possible from Sean! So in LALD, no ordering of martini or wearing a tux. So smoking a cigar rather than a cigarette was also part of this. I love the casino scene in FYEO, and he doesn't smoke, but there is a photo of John Glen directing Moore in this scene..and Roger is holding a cigarette!
It wasn't Roger who was putting distance. It was a decision by the producers and Hamilton to not repeat OHMSS by giving his Bond the same traits as Connery's portrayal. So it was no tux, no ordering martini's, no hat to throw on the coat stand, no smoking, no Aston Martin DB-5, etc.
He does:
He also smokes a cigar after his night with Andrea, when Goodnight is let out of the cupboard.
Yeah I'm pretty sure you're right there. But I think that's probably the last time we see Roger smoke.
I guess the last time Bond smokes is in DAD. Is his last cigarette in TLD? I can't quite remember if he has one in LTK or not.
Bond has a cigarette, when he’s at Sanchez house.
He also lights up in Felix study, when Killifer pops in.
Great; thanks :)
Yeah that was a really hidden detail for years as the pan and scan VHS version cropped them out! We only got to see the cars again when they released the widescreen version!
Yes and the technicians are dropping in a whole rack of missiles. It was done as a tongue in cheek call out from Hamilton!
There is also a great shot that they never used in LTK of Bond sitting in his hotel with cigarette and a hip flask on the table. It was cut from the finished film!

Wow that's new to me: thanks! Are there photos of this scene?
Although I guess that's there because it's the only Bond film(?) to actually use product placement for a cigarette brand: it's literally advertising them in a way no other Bond film did.
That is true. Good point.
