A couple of interesting things I've been reading about lately that could be somehow included in a Bond plot.
So it's not to do with their generation then, it's just to do with how their films were made.
Interestingly it seems like Lazenby had a bit of that self-reflection that Connery and Moore didn't.
Dressing up in disguises seems a little dated, maybe?....
And torturing? You want Bond films to make money, right? I think the closest Bond came to an anti-hero was in LTK (a film I enjoy), and we saw audiences turn their backs.
My guess is that EoN and distributors want more "save the cat moments" than the hero torturing people....
I love seeing Roger's Bond get some credit for his human side. I'd probably put Connery and Moore on equal ground in terms of human qualities. They just have different ways of showing them. Both are subtle, and I appreciate that.
As far as future Bonds continuing to explore Bond's personal side:cool.
There's plenty of room for that alongside action and thrills.
Agreed
What ?
CIA and Mossad laughing at you for that comment.
Yeah, I never liked Craig's Bond wearing them. Not that being an FBI agent is a bad thing, but it turns Bond into one. Maybe they should have looked for a smarter gadget for Bond to use, if Bond must communicate like that. Maybe his watch or something, because earpieces does look and feel like an everyday thing. Just too common for a character like Bond.
Agreed
Perhaps we all misunderstood. After the many explosions which have occurred near Bond, not to mention the torture he withstood in SPECTRE (or did he ? recall my Gilliam's Brazil - based theory), Bond may not only need communication devices, but many simply now be QUITE hard of hearing ! As we move on to a new Bond, which many folks think may be a significantly younger one, perhaps he'll start out - even if temporarily, given the things that happen in a double-O's day (BOOM !) - with hearing intact.
I love that scene with Moneypenny in Macau, it's only a small scene but it's perfect. It sets Bond up as a seasoned agent and also lone wolf trusting his instincts in pursuing Severine
I don't get that. I want the next film to be directed by a capable director, whether male or female. Why does it have to be a woman just because she is a woman?
Do I think the next Bond film *should* be directed by a woman? Not necessarily... but I can see why some would think it's an interesting idea.

The Craig era, especially the back half, seems plagued with these in-jokes that work against themselves later on - Q is "afraid of flying" yet has no problem with it in the very next film, or how they're so above the exploding pen from GE yet introduce an exploding watch into the following installment. Plus, the earpiece bits. It's odd.
Fair enough response, I buy it as it is a flippant line, but doesn't negate the other bits.
I get the exploding pen issue, what’s the backfiring in-joke with earpieces?
