Don't forget EON brought this on themselves. If they had released Bond 25 in 2019 like they were supposed to, and then taken advantage of the 60th anniversary to launch the new bond the press would be singing their sweet praises along with the rest of us. It's not their fault EON decided to power down and go into stasis for 4 years.
I still have my doubts as he's a lead in a superhero film isn't he? I doubt EON want to share their leading man
I mean, I don’t know for sure, but that’d make the most sense. Personally, I’ve gone back and forth on him a bit as a potential Bond, but my gut instinct tells me I don’t think he’s the best pick. I think whoever it is will be slightly more left field. As always I could be wrong though.
What makes you so sure? Craig was first rumoured at least half a year before he got announced.
I mean, reading some of that is a bit ridiculous in hindsight. One would never know that the producers had their eye on Craig well prior to auditions and that presumably he was the favourite. Anyway, there can’t be a front-runner if there are no auditions yet, no?
I seem to remember Michael Madsen saying Brosnan had told him it was going to be some Australian (I think that was on Dark Horizons). That was at least a year before the announcement, though.
Maybe he was talking about Sam Worthington?
Could have been, but also might have been Julian McMahon who was pretty popular around then.
Jesus, I hope not.
I also picked up a strong vibe of Craig being 'the one' that they really wanted.
In a similar sense, I have often wondered about the screen-testing of other actors while Roger was re-negotiating his contract. They always picked him in the end. Were those others fall-back 'reserves' too, just in case Roger said no definitively?
As opposed to what? I can't really see any other explanation.
Actually not bad, he resembles hoagy a little.
As opposed to some of those actors being seriously considered to replace Roger no matter what.
But as we know they did bring back Roger repeatedly that seems unlikely. For that to be the case it would have to mean that they were unhappy with Roger and only stuck with him because they couldn't find anyone better, and I don't think there's any suggestion of that because if you really need a new actor, you'll find one.
They are going to make a Bond 26 after all, or if they don't, it won't be because they can't find anyone to play Bond in it.
Yeah I don't doubt it did no harm for the negotiations for Roger's team to know they're always looking at other options, but regardless it seems clear Roger was always first choice.
The height is a problem, but Craig was only an inch taller. He can wear lifts. As for the age, he'd be pushing 30 or possibly past it by the time the movie is made.
We know Moore, Brosnan, and Craig have all gotten injured playing Bond. What about the others?
I think he’s an interesting candidate, but a bit too young at the current time, and I don’t mean in terms of age but just simply screen presence/ability to convey that sense of world weariness needed for Bond. Maybe next time though (isn’t he 26 or something? Even a 15 year gap won’t matter in that sense).
enough of an impression to search him out. What film has he done that might persuade me he might be the next Bond?
I would rather have a more cerebral story the next time around without Bond being run ragged. Connery and Moore never had to run anywhere and..............still got the job done.
But a human spy at heart.
