If there isn't a director available that EON thinks is right for it, then they will have no choice but to wait until one becomes available and is interested. I think it's fair to say that EONs focus in the near term is Othello/CCBB and building a working relationship with Amazon. Gregg did say that Bond would return "one day", which I think implies that Bond isn't a priority right now. There's also the fact that MGW turns 83 next week to consider.
  • Spielberg always wanted to do a Bond. I know he'd be too expensive and he's not the man he was but would you want him if it is was a possibility?

    Not Spielberg for me.

I think Spielberg could have handled a Bond film very well a few decades ago. The man is a brilliant entertainer. But I'm sure that boat has sailed now.

Spielberg? Sure. Hell, if it means getting a film ASAP, I'll settle for Uwe Boll.

That I want to see. :)) If Uwe Boll directs, can we have Steven Seagal as Felix Leiter? ;-) Imagine that... an Uwe Boll-directed Bond film. CR67 suddenly looks like an expertly made, well-organized, tonally even movie.

Artists have a period during which their flame burns brightest. I feel Spielberg has moved beyond that period. He doesn't make bad films, but his later films aren't as engaging for me. I feel he has become the Tom Hanks of directors. Nice and safe. Nothing edgy or controversial. With him as a Bond director, I feel we'd get a Bond film that has the look and feel of classic Bond, but without edge and passion.

If he didn’t want to direct an Indiana Jones, his own alternative to Bond, he’s not going to be interested in a Bond.

Yes, it is very, very unlikely.

But he did the remake of WSS and he wanted to make a sequel to Bullitt. We don't know what he thinks now that he's getting old.

It would only happen if it was an itch he needed to scratch and eon agreed.

Seeing as the world has to deal with the likes of Putin and Trump I’d defo like the next Bond to be a Cold Warera style plot as we are very much in that period again
