Organizing The Big BOND MARATHON with your friends (...to prepare for "SPECTRE")

I tried to post some information about organizing Bond marathons in this topic: http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/851/tell-us-all-about-your-bondathon#latest
But I guess it's more related to watching a lot of Bond films on your own. I didn't get any reply on the aspect of organizing real Bond marathons with friends, like this insanely big one:

So I think it's a good idea to dedicate a topic about organizing real marathons with friends.....or other geeky Bond fans/friends :-P. I will organize one big marathon on September 12th. The schedule will have 5 Bond film screenings on my 49 inch Philips Ambilight 800 Hz LED-tv with Bose Sound System. We will have some breaks in between off course:

I was thinking to focus purely on Fleming-esque films, like FRWL, LTK, but then I thought, there has to be some variation in it as well, as not only Bond fans will attend. All the films have to be very colorful and exotic as well. They also need to be linked with each other, with some kind of narrative that expands more films than just one.

What do you think of the schedule I made :-)??

    Hey @PropertyOfALady. I am many times on my mobile phone posting replies. But I don't know how to read the wall from the mobile version of the forum.

    Will have a look tonight on my -old- laptop ok?

    None of my mates have the stamina to do this with me! And I reckon the kids wouldn't leave me alone long enough to do it! :))

    Now I saw it hehe: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=50901

    Thanks so much! It even mentions the very rare "Casino Royale" steelbook that was only released in Germany :-D!.

    Few friends, and none of them like Bond. They're too busy with discos and sex.

    On my birthday I and my four best friends will do a Bondathon. We are actually doing this every year at my birthday (or the next Saturday after it) since 1999 and didn't miss one year.
    Depending on what movie is new that year it's either a Star Trek, Batman or James Bond marathon. If there's no new one of those three franchises we mix them together which is always fun too.
    This year each of my friends chose one movie as we usually do:

    It'll be in viewing order:

    Dr. No
    Live And Let Die
    For Your Eyes Only
    The Living Daylights (my pick)
    Casino Royale

    extra: if we are not too tired (or drunk...)
    Diamonds Are Forever

    my daughter stays with my mother that day/night ;)

    we're watching it on my new 65" Samsung Curved UHD 4K 3D TV set with a powerful Samsung Soundbar that is ear-shattering :))

    Can we do something like that on the board…1 movie a day…23 days out?

    Can we do something like that on the board…1 movie a day…23 days out?

    It's a very difficult thing to do. Schedules would be most of the time conflicting, as everyone has a job (I hope so). But the marathon video from my opening post was a walk-in event.

    I'll do something similar, but only for the above 5 films. Anyway, only THREE MORE DAYS :-O!!! I already bought some trays of red bull hehehe.

    This is the schedule by the way (GMT+1 European Time, Madrid/Amsterdam timezone):
    --> 16:30 - 18:40: "Thunderball" (1965, 130 min)
    --> SHORT BREAK
    --> 18:55 - 21:15: "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969, 140 min)
    --> DINNER BREAK
    --> 22:45 - 00:40: "For Your Eyes Only" (1981, 127 min)
    --> SHORT BREAK
    --> 00:55 - 03:10: "Casino Royale" (2006, 144 min)
    --> 03:10 - 05:25: "Skyfall" (2012, 143 min)

    Everyone is welcome at my home around 16:00 (GMT+1, Madrid time). And we start the marathon at 16:30. I will ask a small fee from everyone, €5, so we can buy with that a proper, easy dinner (Italian, Chinese, please let me know if you are vegetarian). Let me know in advance if you attend by responding in this event.
  • Today is the big day for me :-O! First time I have organized such a big movie marathon. And the first time ever I organized a Bond marathon with friends.

    Based on a list of guests I made, around 8 people come to my tiny, little studio flat :-P. Wish me luck guys!

    I would surely love to be there. I would break my Bond moratorium to do so if I was within striking distance.

    You can always 'sync-watch' with us :-P. We start "Thunderball" at 4:30 GMT+1

  • Good luck with your Bondathon...Good selection. Maybe you should have also included DAF and everytime Connery looks bored everyone in the Bondathon has to drink a shot of vodka/martini...
