You know what, I had that exact car when I was a kid. I think I still have it somewhere.

I remember a family friend came over and my parents gave their kid the original one that I had since he was a cute young fella and liked it. I was devastated, and got them to buy me another one first chance I got (lots of kicking and screaming and generally being a pest until they relented and realized/acknowledged their mistake - yes, I was a brat in my time).

As much as I'm done with DB5 oversaturation, I may have to pick one of those up, for old time's sake and to keep it next to my older one.

Get them while they're hot then because once they're gone they're gone and won't be coming back until err next year when Corgi come up with another anniversary so they can repackage it.

2016 - CR 10th anniversary new box for that.
2017 - SF 5th anniversary and TND 20th so double dip in two different boxes for that one. 2018 - Probably B25 where no doubt they'll dredge up the DB5 again so a new box for that. 2019 - 55th GF anniversary.
2020 - TB 55th and GE 25th another double dip.

And on and on for infinity.

I think I might buy shares in Corgi because I think Dominic Greene got it wrong when he said controlling the world's water supply was vital as it was the most valuable resource. It's actually models of the DB5 - people can't get enough of them.

I'm actually considering hoarding thousands then either setting off a small but particularly dirty atomic device at the Corgi factory to irradiate their stock for 58 years or creating an earthquake to flood Corgi HQ and leave me in control of the DB5 market!!

Underserved fanbase? Maybe. But I will say, that first SPECTRE teaser trailer was made just for us. All of the little "Easter Eggs" would be lost on even the casual fan. No matter how disappointing I found the actual film to be, seeing that trailer for the first time was one of my great Bond moments.

One of your great bond moments? Seeing the spectre teaser trailer? What?

It's...steely, blackish, with a hole in the middle, well, not really a real hole you know...
It has a disc inside with the movie on it...I guess...I have to check that out later actually.
You never know...maybe they accidentally put Minions on it...or Pixels...Good Heavens...no!! Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Well, the steelbook did cost a solid £16.66 and £3.42 postage.

But then I would have paid more ;)

Stop your f**king moaning @RC7 and look at this:

Corgi are pulling out all the stops once again so you've got nothing to complain about.
No mirrors? The headlights are the same colour as the body.
I had this as a kid. Back then I loved it... but I was... a kid.

Some comments: I love the partially glossy/matted finish. The slipcase really looks really nice and has the same kind of durability as the "Casino Royale DeLuxe" slipcase. Probably made of cardboard with premium texturized paper finish. The little things that seperate the premium asian editions from the mass produced rest of the world versions if you ask me :-):

This may seem late to bring up, but what exactly is a steelbook? Is it simply a metal case for the Bluray? Sorry for my ignorance.
    You're exactly right.

    Never mind, looked it up.

A Steelbook version of a Blu-ray is a marketing tool to press out more money from the stupid customer who thinks he is collecting something valuable, when it's more or less only some shiny metalish case for a disc. They are "limited" so the crazies will buy them fast and generate revenue for the distributor companies and studios. Many times they produce even different versions of the same title, as they did with Star Wars, Star Trek or the Fast + Furious movies. And of course the stupid sheep buy them all, even if there is nothing different inside. I mean who would own the same movie three times??

    Side note:
At the moment I own 357 steelbooks, including both versions of Star Trek 2009, both Skyfall, Casino Royale and QOS steelbooks and of course all of the new versions of the Furious movies.
    :))

Spectre is charging to Number 1 on this week's Official DVD/Blu-ray Chart with huge sales

The latest James Bond installment Spectre is charging to Number 1 with mammoth sales on this week's Official Video Chart Update.

The 24th film chronicling Bond’s escapades has already claimed the fastest selling video release of 2016 so far, having shifted an impressive 576,000 copies at the mid-week stage and is currently outselling the rest of the Top 100 combined.

The figure beats the first-week sales total of any DVD/Blu-ray release in 2015, and is set to be the biggest since Frozen opened with 819,000 in 2014.

Spectre still has quite a way to go to top the first week sales of recent Bond DVD releases. Skyfall shifted 1.93 million copies in its first seven days 2013, 2009's Quantum Of Solace sold 1.2 million, and Casino Royale opened with 1.395 million.

Spectre’s retail reception matches the enthusiasm met upon its cinema debut when the film broke the UK record for the highest first-week opening in history.

That success of the DVD/Blu-ray/Download doesn't surprise me a bit.
This will generate a ton of money on top of the box office and rightfully so.
    Spectre is a masterpiece.

is, I'll have that too. :)

I haven't bought it yet. Just don't get the time to sit and watch a film any more so will buy it when I want something else. Not in any rush to spend money (think I'm getting like my dad!)
  • It's a better than average Bond film and I'm glad it's doing well financially.

    More Bond films, please!

Watching SP on BluRay last night. Third viewing after seeing it twice in the cinema - and
I loved it. I don't really get why some are down on it. Craig is fantastic. It is superbly photographed and directed - and at nearly 2 1/2 hours, it flies by.
  • Looks great on Blu-ray and really helped me re-evaluate it after having some reservations about it in the cinema. Just a shame they seemed to skimped on extras this time around. Especially with regards to a Mendes commentary which was one of the highlights of the Skyfall disc.

I agree that this film looks splendid on blu ray. I had a much better feeling watching it on the small screen than in the theatre. All Hoyte's great work is much more appreciable.

We get the dvd/ BD release this coming week at the 2 of March. And already spend my bd money on Touch of Evil with Orson Welles & Sullivan's Travels by Preston Sturges. Money better spend I would say.
  • I would have thought that some people would know where to find some screencaps from the movie. When SF came out the screengrabs were everywhere.

I'd love to see all the shots from Mexico but have looked everywhere on the internet. Please help!!!!
