    You won't be disappointed this time out. There is a marvellous kinship between the two, with Q being portrayed as slightly geeky whilst we see Bond have a clear influence and hold over him. Q isn't as brash and arrogant as he is in SF, if anything he seems to look up to Bond in the film. All the film's funniest moments belong to Whishaw especially something early on regarding the DB10.

    Ben Whishaw is the best thing about 'Spectre'.

    In regards to the main titles:
    It's like a sorta Daniel Craig softcore porn film involving an octopus and loads of fire. Like I said it's mega weird and not entirely successful.

    Also, I don't know if it's in the scripts, but in the third act there is a reference to an unused Fleming title which is really neat touch. I'll say no more.

    You're right, that does sound incredibly weird.

    There isn't enough of the DB10? What do these reviewers want? The DB10 in nearly every scene ! Not enough gadgets ! too many gadgets! no laughs! too many laughs! Jeez. Can't they just review the film!

    I don't get how Rotten Tomatoes works, 92% but most of the critics are more mixed than really good. Or does simply the red tomato count without reflecting on the content of the reviews?

    Rotten Tomatoes counts 6/10 as fresh, so even though 3 stars skews negative for some critics, it is counted as fresh by the tomatometer.

    I think it shows the percentage of "fresh" reviews by default, but you can click average rating somewhere to show that percentage

    I'm doing my best to avoid these reviews but I'm really curious about Mr Hinx. Was he as good as we hoped?

    The red/green tomato is essentially a pass/fail based on the score. A review can be mixed and still provide a red tomato. Where the actual scores matter is in the average critic score, like such:

    Skyfall: 93% Fresh | 8.2/10 Average
    Spectre: 92% Fresh | 7.3/10 Average

    Small sample so far on Spectre, but more mixed reviews this time around (so far).

    Also sometimes when it isn't obvious (i.e. not a rave review and not a pan) the critic can tell RT whether his review should be marked fresh or rotten

    All of the above. Pretty much that is an accurate description of many of the issues the film suffers. That and bad writing.

    In regards to the GB, I'm not sure if I should say. So be warned, don;t click unless you want to know the details:
    The film opens on the classic GB sequence, using Binder's original design. Then we cut to black and across the screen it says: 'The Dead Live' or something like that. Then you cut to the most gorgeous opening shot ever to open a Bond film.
    So it fades to black similar to Skyfall, or does the barrel go to the corner of the screen a la the first 20 films?

    Hey thanks to you all for all the info on Rotten Tomatoes. I find RT really interesting, haven't really used it before but I guess I will check out some of my favourite movies there to see how they did with the general audience and critics.

    Sadly, there's almost no word on the acting... Which I found so wonderful in "Skyfall".

    Finding the overall lack of positive responses to Waltz' performance to be pretty disappointing.

    Here's hoping I am in the positive camp come Monday night!

    SP is currently running at 92% on RT. That is pretty damn good. All films are rated the same way, with mixed reviews often falling into the positive category. The fact that the far more major paper critics are giving it 4 and 5 stars is significant. Now, anyone with a web site who reviews films seems to get a say on RT. I haven't heard of half the names on these reviews. I'm focused on what the critics on the big papers say, as they influence attendance. I remain very relieved that they brought much more wit back to Bond. Craig has a cheeky British wit, and it looks like they are using it. Hope the RT rating stays above 90%.

    Only 12 reviews have counted.......so expect a lot of variations in the rating until 50 reviews come in. It can go up, down, up and down. But after 50 or more reviews, the final rating will slowly settle in.

    By the way, RottenTomatoes opened with the worst review so far, so no wonder it kicks off with 60% or lower. If they started with "The Guardian" review, it would have started at 100%.

    i to find this odd from the reviews. Considering that Waltz and Seydoux are in this film.

    I hate reviews. You should never judge a film by them until you've seen it yourself. Everyone has different opinions. I know for certain ill like it more than skyfall. Just the tone alone seems more appealing to me than skyfall.

    As long as liked and successful enough to warrant more Bond then I'm happy.

    Besides EON does better when having to prove or get back on top then when they are on top.

    Just my opinion.

    I don't know if I agree with that. The US critics may be influenced by the major British critics which are mostly 4 and 5 stars. They were pretty consistent on SF. @Gustav_Graves, you are the statistics guy, can you run a comparison of the number of stars the major British critics assigned to SF and SP?

    What I find fascinating about this is that Skyfall came out very strong critically, but after a while the praise was a lot more measured. I think that was largely in part due to the low bar QoS and the 4 year wait. Makes me wonder if Spectre is going to go the opposite way.
