Yeah kinda annoying. I'm welcoming the change ...with the world falling apart it's nice to just escape with Bond for a bit.
It's become clear that there are two camps of Bond Fans (and, well, there's a third camp that just complains about everything). One lot likes the fun/OTT/blockbuster type Bond, and the other likes the serious, darker, character driven Bond. I remember when DAD came out, people were complaining why can't Bond be serious instead of this silly stuff? So EON started making serious Bond films, and then the other group started saying where's the fun and innuendos and gadgets? So EON will never win, trying to please Bond Fans in general.
It's like the weather... sunny days are nice but then after awhile nice rain storm is relaxing then you get drenched and want sun again. B-)

I think it just exposes people for wishing to complain about Daniel Craig regardless and I'm really tired of it. He gives a bravado performance in SPECTRE. We've seen the emotional rookie Bond now we have the cool, confident one on the top of his game.
It's not the complaints which are irksome, we're all free to do so, but the agendas that some people obviously have behind them.

--> ■ ■ ■ ■ □, ContactMusic.com (USA): "There's also plenty of current resonance to balance the old-school spy antics. This is a movie about cyber-terrorism, nano-technology, surveillance operations and remote-control warfare. But the film's real power is in its punchy personal touches, as Bond goes off the rails to discover unwanted things about himself. Yes, there are still gadgets, flashy cars and lots of helicopters in perilous action mayhem, but this is also a continuation of the introspective story that began with Craig's franchise relaunch in Casino Royale: an earthier, more engaged Bond who feels every physical and emotional punch. And where he goes from here should be fascinating.":

Heavily opinionated and I don't agree with it whatsoever. Also, comparing it to TDK trilogy is the last thing it needs after how similar TDK and SF were.

If we have to believe Doug Norrie's final RottenTomatoes predictions for "SPECTRE", then the film could start falling even more towards a minimum of 68% once the US critics start posting their reviews tomorrow (Currently, "SPECTRE" has a 78% rating on RT). That means it doesn't even get a 'Certified Fresh' rating and the rating would almost equal "Quantum Of Solace" on RT.
Don't underestimate his predictions, because he usually is spot-on :-):
"Furious 7":

Again, don't let such articles diminish the fun that goes with a new Bond film ;-). At times he was wrong too with his predictions. But it is interesting though!
How can he predict without reviews? I doubt that low ...too many likes even with the faults.
Maybe I'm wrong but don't see American critics bashing the film that much. QoS yes but this isn't QoS.
I also have had a feeling they will tend towards the bashing side (because there is a tendency to try to tear down something that was an unexpected success previously).
Let's see what happens.
Well that's maybe true too... but it might hit a reminiscent cord with some critics.
Ah well, look on the bright side ;-). "SPECTRE"!! November 6th!
Ufff, the guy could be right :-P. US reviews are coming in, and they severely lowering the RottenTomatoes-meter closer towards the final rating of "Quantum Of Solace". It now stands at 71%. Most new US reviews are 'rotten'.
I think we need to....use Guy Hamilton's motto once again:
No worries guys. Let's stay positive! :-D Peace, kisses, hehe.
This just shows how overrated Skyfall is.
The gap between SF and SP on Metascore and RT is ridiculously wide.
It depends how you look at it. You can also say that reality sets in with "SPECTRE". Remember, 'ridiculous wide gaps' were also happening when "QOS" premiered after "CR" :-).
I honestly find it laughable as well..... Moreover, one could have prepared for "SP" properly by re-watching the very final scenes of "SF".

MOD EDIT: Please watch your usage of the f-word.
No but that's disheartening.
One would think so. I think there's indeed a slight bit of...'hate' sneeking up in the US reviews. Just read the review from Matt Zoller Seitz, who's now the chief editor of RogerEbert.com:
http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/spectre-2015
In all honesty, he's basically shitting on the review from "Skyfall" that was written by the late Roger Ebert himself!
One other thing, the Bond-franchise has one build-in flaw it can never get rid off. And which also influences ratings (on IMDB) of the best Bond films ("Skyfall", "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", "Casino Royale", "From Russia With Love"). That is its own age. What do you actually expect after 23...24 Bond films? No critical reviewer for "SPECTRE" isn't asking himself/herself that question.
After 53 years, and more years to come, the Bond franchise gets prone more and more to comparisons of its own past. And like I said before, newer spy-/action franchises don't suffer from that problem just yet. Actually, it seems "Mission: Impossible" and "The Dark Knight" are allowed to borrow at will from its Godfather-franchise "Bond". But when Bond is doing that? The devil seems to be on Earth :-).
In any case, this will not diminish the fun of a Bond-fan. Not for me at least :-). At least WE know better.
Either there is a 'bashing' going on which is unwarranted, or it is in fact warranted. I will tell you in 3 days what I think.
From what I have read (spoiler free stuff as much as I can but really I think most of the stuff is out there) from both fans and critics, this is an entry that is not going to sit well with everyone. Objectively, it seems to have flaws. Of course it has positives as well.
As I've said before and elsewhere, only in about 6 months can most of us be able to objectively look back and discuss this film without our emotions and obsessive fandom getting in the way. Now is not the time for the objectivity that this forum is normally known for........not after EON made us wait 3 freaking long years after a previous 4 year wait.
So I will render my (likely irrelevant) judgement and opinion a few days from now.
----
The good thing about Bond is, after 53 yrs, even with a perceived misstep (if that is the collective judgement on SP once everyone looks back on it objectively, which is by no means guaranteed), the franchise can and will bounce back. It always does. Always. The public always forgives anything when it comes to Bond. He is bulletproof. That is an advantage only a few franchises have the benefit of (Batman, Star Wars, a few others).
That is why MGM/EON are going to do very well when the negotiations begin in earnest for the new studio tie-in, regardless of SP's performance (critically and box office).
