Problem with religions is the more one turns into a joke the more serious it's practitioners become. And nastier too.
as you can gamble on absolutely anything.
It has most probably nothing to do with experiments in the concentration camps, you can find in the litterature a big breakthrough by a German scientist in 1939 in Cologne, for instance, maybe that's what they tell you about. I don't think they told you it was proven thanks to experiments in the camps...
And, frankly, as I wrote before, how can you imagine people living long enough in a concentration camp to develop a cancer in a medical study ? Can you imagine the Nazis selecting Jews to live confortably (in order not to die from other reasons first) with cigarettes at will to study if they will have a cancer a few years after ?
I think you're mixing things with the fact that the Nazi made a stronger anti-tobacco policy than there was before them, or things like that. Science outside the camp.
Well I feel like the answer is "I don't have any more examples to give because of it's secret", no ? I gave you an example that is close to what you write about, and even that means you start with subjects in so poor conditions that it's not sure it's meaningful.
Well, your only example is unrelated to the Nazi experiments and your other examples are so secret people won't talk about them (you'd dismiss that attitude, I guess, from anyone else on any other topic no ?).
It's a far stretch from "a great amount of useful knowledge" that we all benefit from. I don't feel like we're nowadays having treatments that scientists can't discuss publicly because of their origins :)
There are many examples of Nazi inventing or promoting things that are seen now in a positive light by some, and those populary under the Nazi is a big touchy problem.
Just ask the vegetarians, there's a whole litterature devoted to the attempt of proving that Hitler and lots of the most influent Nazis around him, were not "really" vegetarians :)
There's no need to invent a secret Nazi science that would have a secret big influence on the Western science. You have Von Braun and the NASA already, rockets built thanks to Nazi prototypes costing the lives of thousands of prisoners during WWII ! It's not a "big secret".
Watch out, the love of hidden paradox that shock the political correctness, can make some write weird things... IMO you'll have problem listing the "great amount of useful knowledge on the human body" that was created in the camps. People there are not having the life of other people, to start with. And if the rocket doesn't care what is the state of mind of the people assembling it, the body does care a lot !
I doubt it. She almost singlehandedly sank the McCain campaign in 2008. And she did this with a well intentioned (although dim witted and senile) presidential candidate. Just imagine the embarrassing campaign she can run with a barking mad, ill intentioned, wannabe incestuous presidential candidate. She turned away independent voters in 2008 now she can turn away republicans too.
But we are off topic. Although maybe not so much: they think and speak like mullahs. Only the branding is different.
Very well, sir. You win this round. I may have spoken too fast and I'm not too proud to admit it. I accept defeat; without more concrete examples to back me up, I will never make that point again because, well, I can't. ;-) I guess my blind faith in what was said to me, weakened my case before I had tried to make it. Thank you for pointing that out.
Meanwhile, I wanted to share something that I feel is not inappropriate in this thread. Quoting Dr. Lawrence Krauss, whom I'm a big fan of:
“The ethos of science - open questioning, no authorities, honesty, transparency, reliance on evidence, peer review and testability - can make the world a better place by burying myth, superstition, and dogma."
I found this picture on fb and wanted to share it
Well in my view it was worth it to get rid of that Mad Dog bastard Gaddafi. A lot of blood on his hands in Ulster and Lockerbie as well as in his own country of Libya of course. He got what was coming to him...
This is a bit rich given what happened in Cologne:
'the initial reason for the veil or, even segregation, was because it was not safe to be a Muslim woman amongst enemies.'
As the writer points out - if the whole reason is that without the niqab Muslim men would be incapable of stopping themselves from sexually assaulting women, isn't banning the veil asking the wrong question entirely?
Yes.
- Atleast 22 dead in an attack in a touristic area in Ivory Coast.
- Atleast 27 dead in an attack in Turkey.
What happened at the airport in Brussels? I just turned on the tv, and saw the news of 2 explosions. Reports of several wounded.
This will change again the way we will travel in the future. Not good. Our freedom will get limited further.
Media specials, security experts commenting when its too early to know much, DC giving a meaningless soundbite, shakey mobile phone clips, Cobra meeting again, etc etc The establishment seems to have no real long term solutions
11 dead at airport, 15 at metro station
Two bombs at airport, one in subway station.
Yes - two suicide bomings @ Brussels Airport (in Zaventem, just north-east of Brussels) with 11 dead so far and one bomb caused 15 dead at a subway station nearby me.
utter chaos on streets afterwards, needless to say...
Christ I hate this kind of sh*t
As I mentioned on the Charlie Hebdo thread more than a year ago, Schengen is at risk. I also wonder how this may impact the British referendum on EU membership and the US elections.
A commentator on the news was suggesting the timing of this attack could have been on account of information that the Paris attacker Salah Abdelsalam revealed during his interrogation, and which was broadcast to the press. There could have been 'codes' in the revelation which the attackers picked up on. Either they knew they were going to be captured soon due to his revelations, or they decided to do it now as a distraction so they could get out of Brussels before a border shut down.
