I understand what you're staying but my ranking/s, and any future ones, are done purely on how much I enjoy the movie at the time I watch. My rankings have every chance of altering after every Bondathon I do, which is at least twice a year.

One day, I venture, you too will see the (day)light, my friend B-)

I have no doubt I will. TLD will always have a special place in my heart - it was the first Bond movie I saw at the cinema.

I am probably the only fan who would place DAF in the top tier. I just have to be honest with myself: the movie is so bloody awful that it's a delight to watch. No Bond film puts me in a good mood like DAF.

It fascinates me that some aficionados here can rank TLD below fare such as AVTAK and LALD...

Each to their own, of course. But I find it mind-boggling. TLD's first 45mins alone propel it into at least better than average territory.

    Agreed. TB too.

Controversially, one of the few to put the majestic OHMSS into a low ranking. I commend your bravery sir.

Not bad @ForYourEyesOnly , our only real discrepancies are in your Quantum of Decency section; I think you have three in there that deserve mush better treatment and two that you are being too kind to.

Well, if I were to hazard a guess, you think I'm being too harsh on Live and Let Die and You Only Live Twice, possibly QoS as well. For the ones I'm being too kind towards - Octopussy & and The Living Daylights? I suppose I just enjoy all of John Glen's Bonds, while Guy Hamilton is just not for me (his last three in particular - entertaining, but not very good thanks to their plethora of flaws). For Roger Moore's worst I usually bounce between Golden Gun and Moonraker, depending on what I'm rating it on and my current mood.

You are right about LALD, YOLT and QOS, but the ones I think you were being too kind too are the other two in that bracket; SP and TND.

SP and TND are undoubtedly flawed, but they succeed in evoking some classic Bond themes and are both decent films anyway. I think it's fair to rank them in the upper portion of the 3rd tier. I'll admit that the biggest gap between my tiers is between the 2nd and 3rd, so I definitely have Licence to Kill a good way higher than Spectre.

I would've thought that my rankings of stuff like OHMSS and DN would be more controversial on this board than YOLT and LALD, but eh. I'll say that they are quite close to the top tier.

Yeah, I rank OHMSS very low and I'm one of the only ones. I acknowledge its qualities as a film, I just really don't like ole Lazenby in the role.

@Birdleson You and I agree on a lot of things, but I'm still holding onto hope that someday you'll come to love OP. MR I'm not holding my breath on, but I've still got some hope for the former.

I've had OHMSS as low as 12 or 14 before. The cinematography, score, action, final scene and Diana Rigg are all great, with Telly Savalas being pretty good too. The plot & George Lazenby's general acting are both pretty bad, and the pacing of the film is pitiful.

    OCTOPUSSY
    NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN
    A VIEW TO A KILL
    LICENCE TO KILL

    First tier:
On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, The Living Daylights, Licence to Kill, Quantum of Solace, Spectre

    Second tier:
Dr No, Thunderball, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker, A View to a Kill, Skyfall

    Third tier:
From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day

    Fourth tier:
You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale

Casino Royale has fallen quite some ways over the years for me (if it were five tiers, it'd be down in five with TSWLM), while the later Pierce films have clawed up a bit.

I'm gonna do it by the actor's body of work in the franchise as a whole.

1st tier: Connery, Dalton (these guys WERE Bond)
2nd tier: Brosnan (he was the 'good guy' Bond- I liked him)
3rd tier: Moore, Craig. (Neither my idea of Bond, but both good.)
4th tier: Lazenby. (Look, he was just a really bad actor in a great movie. Which does bring the movie down in the end.)

Knives out then? I can duck. ;)
