I agree with @thelivingroyale. I'm not too wild about the FYEO opening sequence eventhough I like the film as a whole.

There's some good aspects obviously like the stuntwork and Bond visiting Tracy's grave but, as I've got a bit older, the way "Blofeld"* is turned into a throwaway cartoon character villain leaves me with an uneasy taste in the mouth.

And the OTT way he yells "plleeeassse" when he's above the chimney is awful. It's like something from James Bond Jr.

*and he IS Blofeld in all but name.

FYEO starts off well enough with the Tracy grave stone scene, though ends in a ridiculous manner. I get that it is a swipe at Mcclory dumping Bald guy down the chimney, though I just find it stupid with horrendous dialogue.

DAD is far from the worst. Despite some shoddy dialogue, the hovercraft chase is immensely well-choreographed.

Its boring and basically a re dux of TND. So uninspired. Name a worst one?

    DAF
    L&LD
    TMWTGG

is a good starting point. I'd say you could easily throw FYEO in as well, and from there I guess it becomes a bit more subjective as to what gets labeled a bottom-feeder or middle-o'-the-packer. YOLT and AVTAK are probably two others most would say would easily find their way to the bottom ahead of DAD.

TMWTGG is pretty good in my book: the atmosphere, the cinematography, the sets, the music, Sir Christopher.

I fail to draw any major parallels between the two. Hardly uninspired, if you ask me. The hovercrafts were an inventive twist.

I'll concede it's the best of Hamilton's latter three. The segment is well done for what it is. I guess it could be viewed as either a strength or a weakness that it does something different from the usual action sequence featuring Bond, and excites or disappoints based upon one's view.

Not only that but it ends with Bond being captured by an enemy nation, something we've never seen before and a great way to subvert how a PTS like that usually ends. So I agree that it can't be called uninspired. It's easily one of the most memorable.

Nice ranking. All except two of your Top 11 would make my Top 11. I just think TWINE and OHMSS are far too low on your list.

(And FYEO only far too high for my taste ;) )

That's probably the best moment in all of bond, when he pulls the parachute out and it's the Union Jack

    My personal favourite is TLD.

A really great intro to the new 007. A clever tense sequence with exciting action, great stuntwork, Barry's superb music, climaxing with a nailbiting escape from the doomed Jeep. It also has a neat little "Bond. James Bond" line that ends with a dash of humour.

I knew when I first saw it this was going to be a Bond to be reckoned with!

Least favourite is TMWTGG. All very lame. Similar to LALD in that Bond doesn't even appear. (Apart from as a waxwork dummy)

Favourite: Casino Royale, Low-key, brutal and black-and-white.

Least favourite: I'm not all that wild about the AVTAK one to be honest. Snowboarding aside, it all feels a bit limp and the final minute with Moore in the sub with that pin-up is pretty embarrassing ("oh...Commander Bond").

I agree. The only decent part is Lazenby's reveal while he's getting ready to smoke.

If we're talking from beginnnig to end, then TLD is definitely the best!
I always have an issue with TSWLM, as it contains probably the best stunt sequence!!, but the pts as a whole is poor!
Worst though, has to be LALD, or DAD, tedious hovercraft chase!

That's already three for TLD then! (TSWLM's PTS is a close second for me)

Have to defend OHMSS, second for me. Brilliant reveal of Bond, (Sunglasses, hat, rifle sight in glove box), Barrys score, Tracys attempted suicide, great fight scene, beautifully shot!
I like the OHMSS PTS but I always cringe at the final line. I understand why they did it but I don't find it funny and it takes me out of the film.

Is their an Elimination thread for this sort of thing?
Its a very minor issue for me. It doesn't detract from the excellence of the pts!

Hmm, okay but how does the continuity of the editing not bother you? When Tracy's on the ground (after she's saved) we see a "jump cut" and suddenly she's lying in another position. Later during the fight, Bond and the henchman end up in the water despite being far away. I could go on and on.
No, it doesn't! I really dont notice those moments you mention!
Re, an elimination game. We already had it. If i recall, TLD won!
