Dire Absolutely Dire wins it for me. I don't understand the hate for TWINE. Sure it has it's problems and could have been so much more but in truth that could be said for most Bond movies.

It takes all kinds of people to make a world, even some Brosnan fans ;)

I have to say I find GE very entertaining, and TND is also very fun to watch as well !!

    Deal with it!!! :p
  • OMG - I fancy watching DAD. I'll probably switch it off after Cuba...much love to PB and this gem from his term 'just surviving...' which was top.

Luds is going to hammer you for that statement, although I do like the "just surviving" line too.

It is pretty universal that Die Another Day is Brosnan's worst 007 movie. Even though it receives that title, I still do not consider it the worst Bond movie by any means. There are others far lower than it on my rankings! For me, the Brosnan movies have always ranked in order of their appearance, with GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies always being in the top ten, and The World is not Enough lingering in and out of the top ten depending on my last watch of it. If it doesn't make it to the top ten for that time, then it is usually around 11 or 12, so it's still up there with the best really. Die Another Day usually hangs around 15 or so.

My least favorite Brosnan flick? The Lawnmower Man, the CGI is horrid and quite spooky. :P

Unbelievable. I'm waiting for the thread "In what scene does Craig look the fugliest?". Oh man, it's so hard to choose... "Which Craig face do you like better, scowl or glower?". I can't wait for those equally good thread titles.

DAD... my least favorite Bond movie. Not because of Brosnan, whose performance isn't the worst thing of the film.

I actually find this to be an interesting thread. I find that there is more variation in opinions on Brosnan's films then there are for any other actor. If the thread were about people's least favourite Connery film I think that DAF would win with a huge margin. Likewise, were we speaking about Moore's films I can see a lot of people choosing MR (although there are indeed a couple of people who love it). Yet with Brosnan's films it's really easy to see that each film seems to have some people that hate it while others love it.

While my opinions on GE and DAD haven't really changed I enjoy TND much more than when it first came out, and I find TWINE to be much more dreary and poorly acted than I thought at first (I still think that with a bit of tweaking, better actors and a better director it could have been quite good). I still think that it was a missed opportunity...

Well, you just proved your point, cuz I love TWINE - my favorite Brosnan performance and film. Apted got something that other directors miss: the correct pacing and balance of elements. I don't get the hate for it, but then I don't get nine out of ten posts on this Craig fan site.
  • I really don't get the hate for TWINE. One of my favourites.

    Brosnans worst film is DAD.

TWINE was full of potential. It had an excellent setup but in the end it was horribly executed. As for Brosnan's weakest Bobd film, that goes to DAD for me.

Like Sir Henry, I don't hate any Bond film, I can enjoy all of them to a point. Just think some are less Bond than others. To the thread…
Dire Another Day is my least favourite Brosnan, in order:-
    TND
    TWINE
    GE
    DAD
    (TWINE and GE probably =)

Truly when it comes to Pierce Bronsan this website has the same unbiased and balanced reputation as say Fox News and Barrack Obama.

    Good luck to you all.

I think Brosnan gets bashed more than he should but I think it boils down to how epically overhyped he was for the role, which we can trace back to the mid 80s and that's an insane amount of hype because he was by and large the people's choice for the role. So,for him to get the role and to be horribly utilised in a way he didn't deserve, not that he gave much evidence to show that he really cared, mind you but it is a massive disappointment within this particular Bond era because quite frankly, the Brosnan era as a whole failed to deliver on the hype. Now, Brosnan was a dissapointing factor IMO but he was far fron terrible and easily the least of the problems that went on in his era.

i love all of Brosnans movies...except for the 2nd half of Die Another Day (the exception of the second half is when Graves goes Bird Strike into a properllor with the awesome bond theme playing over it)

Ho ho ho. Where to start?! (Rubs hands with glee).

For me GE is the worst because that was when I knew I was in for a decade or dire Bond. From then on I didn't expect anything, so TND was actually a pleasant surprise and definitely Brozza's best outing.

Ditto TWINE was bad but not a surpsise so I could deal with it.

DAD was utterly awful but so OTT and dull I didn't really care by that stage.

So GE wins simply for ushering in the dark age of Brozza and for having the worst soundtrack in Bond histiry.

You'd REALLY put GE below DAD? [-(

I can understand if you think its overrated/cheesey/cliched but...common :p

Parts of DAD aren't actually that bad but the windsurfing scene pretty much pisses on everything the series stood for.

Goldeneye didn't have a character called 'Mr Kil' either.

DAD makes GE look like Citizen Kane in comparison. It's director went on to do Casino Royale - which aimed to rectify the damage Lee Tamahori did to the series - so he must have done something right the first time round.

I call it the interregulum. Between the glorious Dalton years and salvation with Daniel Craig..

DAD is easily the worst but TWINE is just a dull, wannabe-worthy bore to me. And whilst I grudgingly admit that GE is probably better than TND, I find TND far more entertaining. GE, although I suppose it is Brosnan's 'best' Bond movie, is really not as good as it could have been with an extra script polish and a better cast villain.

You know, as an aside, I think if one were to get their editing scissors out, there's probably a very fun, throwaway 90-minute Bond movie somewhere inside DAD'S 133 minutes...

  • Well when I saw all the new posts, I had a list of people in my head who I knew would be on this thread criticising Brosnan, and they didn't disappoint.

How come when a poster on another thread called Craig ugly he was a troll and a loser, but bashing Brosnan is fine? I'm not saying it should be ok to attack Craig, I'm saying it shouldn't be ok to bash one and not the other.

Alot of my posts are tongue in cheek. I am laughing at, oh hold on, got that wrong - laughing with Brozzer.

    Ya dig?

  • I don't mind most of your posts because they're mostly tongue in cheek, it's other posts that are just plain mean that piss me off.

Die Another Day for me. Dreadfull themesong, Halle Berry's acting was poor and some of the lines she was given made me cringe. There was absolutely no suprise element when Rosamund Pike was revealed as the bad girl who double crossed Bond - anybody could see that one coming - and not for a second did i feel that we were in Iceland, the set looked fake and studio bound...
