I think you accidentally swapped Craig and Dalton :D
2. Craig
3. Dalton
4. Moore
5. Lazenby
6. Brosnan - Not a bad Bond. But his films were the low point of the series.
Nothing against him, he just never had the opportunity to establish himself. I never have been a huge fan of LTK and while I enjoy parts of TLD, the second half falls a little flat for me and it doesn't seem like I'm watching a Bond film. (With the exception of the cargo plane fight. That sits in my top 5 of favourite scenes in the series.)
I was 21 when Goldeneye happened to me :))
It is and will forever be may favourite James Bond movie and game!!! :D
Pretty good list.
Haha I was 10 when the game came out and 11 when I first saw the movie back in 99
1 Sean Connery and Pierce The hot charmers
2 Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig- The though Fighters
3 Roger Moore and George Lazenby the nice lovers
Here's my take on it:
Brosnan/Moore, the OTT, witty ones
Connery/Craig, the realistic, hard fighting ones
Dalton/Lazenby, the ones with only two, respectively one movie.
I'd also add that those 2 are the closest to the books.
I liked your pair ups as well, i never thought of putting together Lazenby Dalton but it does make sense and very good short description for each pair up
1. Connery
2. Craig
3. Dalton
4. Moore
5. Lazenby
6. Brosnan
And if ranking by their overall body of work in the series, then I'll swap Lazenby and Brosnan.
Roger Moore
Sean Connery
Timothy Dalton
Daniel Craig
Pierce Brosnan
Love Lazenby, but I'm not going to compare him to the rest as I've only got one film to go off.
Dalton
Connery
Craig
Moore
Lazenby
Brosnan
2. Sean Connery
3. Timothy Dalton
4. Roger Moore
5. Pierce Brosnan
6. George Lazenby
Brosnan/Craig
Moore/Lazenby
1 Craig
2 Dalton
3 Moore
4 Connery
5 Brosnan
6 Lazenby
I think it's important to remember there's (at least) two questions being asked here - who do you think is the 'best Bond', and who do you personally like the most. It's hard to dispute Connery's greatness but that doesn't necessarily mean I want to watch his films more than the others.
This man knows what's up:
1. Connery (his role)
2. Craig (no hope of catching No. 1)
3. Dalton (my favorite, can't be No. 1 with 2 flicks)
4. Moore (grown on me with time, but still the other type of guy)
5. Brosnan (would be higher had he stopped at GE)
6. Lazenby (one-shot, probably owns last place in perpetuity)
Wow you just won the award for the most ineteresting ranking in pair ups.
First Sean Connery with Timothy Dalton one classic Cinematic Bond who is Connery and one Fleminesque portrayed by Dalton
2nd Pierce and Craig again one the Modern version of the cinematic Bond and the Dalton the more intense Fleming style.
Last Moore and Lazenby two more sotfened versions of the character but with the difference that Lazenby's flick ended up in a very dark and sad tone.
Beautifully summarized.
Here's mine (as of now - may change after ongoing Bondathon).
1. Connery - owns it
2. Craig - as close as we'll ever get to 1. again
3. Moore - redefined it
4. Dalton - should have done more and he'd be my 2.
5. Lazenby - against all odds, he pulled his one shot off beautifully
6. Brosnan - inconsistent and never quite got a grip on it until the end when it was too late
1.- Daniel Craig, not perfect, but at the moment he scores 3 out 3
2.- Timothy Dalton, with a 3rd he would be my #1.
3.- Sean Connery, as the best (DN-TB) and the worst (DAF) 007 ever.
4.- Roger Moore, he did exactly the only thing he could do.
5.- Pierce Brosnan, he was ok, but a bit bland and a bit too "standard" for my taste.
6.- George Lazenby, last, but he could have been a good Bond.
2 ~ Dalton
3 ~ Craig
4 ~ Brosnan
5 ~ Moore
6 ~ Lazenby
Had the filmmakers been further along I to their learning curve then maybe things might have faired better.
Things faired quite well in that era.
GE is a classic like CR and TND is quite better than QOS.
And just because now all is serious and character driven doesn't mean it's necessarily better just different.
The Craig fans should come down their high horse for a change.
And by the way neither CR nor QOS were more successful than any of the Brosnan films, only SF elevated to higher levels.
2. Brosnan - gets a bad rep from most fans that I'll never understand. He's one of the best to me and he IMO has a hint of Connery, Moore, and Dalton.
3&4. Dalton/Craig - it depends on what mood I'm in on who I like more. I wish Dalton would've made at least one more movie but at least he has a great performance in his only two. Craig is great as well but is just a more extreme version of Dalton, minus the cool gadgets.
5. Moore - most of the time I have to be in the mood to watch Moore's Bond. His run was fun and easily memorable but it did go on a bit too long.
6. Lazenby - could've had a good run, and possibly could've been above Moore on my list, but he didn't really have much of a chance to prove himself.
