Glad to see that the British greats still know that DW is the series to play a role in.

And I somehow feel that Diane Rigg is easily better remembered for her role of Emma Peel in The Avengers. And mostly by 007 geeks as Tracy Bond in OHMSS.

There's more on the location shoot with the trio dressed in Period costume as they film scenes in Butetown, Cardiff in the heavy rain...

She's also known as Edwina Lionheart, in Theater of Blood, IMHO Vincent Price's best movie.

As for her daughter, the only thing I've seen her in is Tipping the Velvet.

Plus, the return of Jenny (from "A Good Man Goes To War"). Is Madame Vastra close behind ? One can only hope.

One can only hope so - an awesome episode in prospect if that's the case...! :)

The Ambassadors of Death is the classic Who DVD for October.

Is it just me, or have the covers taken a turn for the worse? Starting with The Krotons and looking ahead to The Greatest Show In The Galaxy, Planet of Giants & Vengeance On Varos, the covers look dull. :-?

Even better news: According to the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, it will be in colour. Yes, the DW Restoration Team has managed to colourize them all.

Of course, this will be a serial I'll watch now with a tear in my eye, but it's also a release I'm impatiently waiting for.

I quite like that one. The outstretched hands are quite creepy. Better then the usual Clayton Hickman circles and triangles.

    Okay

Series 7 episode 1 WILL premier at The Edinburgh International TV Festival on Saturday 25th August at 10am.If the BBC keep the patten form Let's Kill Hitler last year, it would mean Series 7 would premier that night on BBC 1.

Just heard about the untimely demise of Mary Tamm. 62 is really too young to die. Frakking, Smegging Cancer !

I'm afraid I didn't see any of her episodes, and given that I'm doing the DVDs in chronolical order, it might take some time getting to "The Key to Time (just watched the Sensorites, waiting for Reign of Terror). But still , very sad news. Those last two years haven't been kind to Who actors, and fans. :(

I do have the boxet "Key to time" but cannot watch it due to vacation tomorrow.

But indeed the companions are leaving us at a far to alarming rate.

Yes, very sad that Mary Tamm has died. One of the ladies I had a crush on in the 70s.
She was my favourite Dr Who assistant and has never been bettered... imo

My second favourite assistant after Leela.

Mary Tamms Romana was a joy. An icy mannered Time Lady as bright as the Doctor (academically better) and so elegant and mannered.

She would have made a great Bond girl. Tamm was that goodlooking.

Cannot wait, pity it didn't say returns with a date rather than just autumn. Just need Iron maiden or ACDC to announce a new album or tour and it'll be a fantastic week with both bond and doctor who trailers

Edit, I also like the promo picture, looks a bit movie posterish

I've never watched the show - please don't hit me - but I did get excited to find that link and show it to you guys. I may have to get into it sometime, I feel like it's another one of those shows I'll always ignore and never watch, but it's a real gem.

Great news about Diana Rigg becoming a Doctor Who alumnus - and her daughter, of course.

In actual fact, a few years ago I was lucky enough to catch Rachael Stirling in a stage production of the 1973 Hammer horror film Theatre Of Blood (co-starring Jim Broadbent in the Vincent Price role), in which she played the character her mother had in the original. And, must say, it was staggering just how much like a young Diana Rigg she sounded, looked and moved. Like mother, like daughter truly...

You know, that was exactly my thought when I saw her picture (from "Tipping the Velvet") on page 7 of the latest edition of Doctor Who Magazine. The spitting image of her mother.
