    Elliot was the embodiment of the worst in American corporate endeavours. Hillary is an angel by comparison, but she is still a tool of the system IMO. Wars will never end while they are so profitable. Solar, wind & fusion will keep being slowed to a crawl as long as the oil guys see a profit. When the oil dries up, there will be no choice but to invest in things other than war. I just hope that by then it's not to late to tech-up, or then the water & food wars will begin.
    The Military Industrial Complex has to be phased out. Soon.

    As I understand it we're allready too late. Global warming is speeding up at an impressive rate. The melting of the icecaps now triggering the release of even more gasses that were safely stowed away under the ice.

    Not only gasses are stored there, but nuclerar weapons of the highest level, when they tried to build a tunnel under the ice for nuclear weapons directed versus Russia. Didn't work out, but now they are there and slowly getting laid free. Such fun. This is what they do without asking and now, nobody is responsible.

    Trump leading by 2 points in Mississippi...Let me say that again: TRUMP LEADS BY 2 POINTS IN MISSISSIPPI. Only two points? Everyone knows that Mississippi is the dumbest state in the union. they make Idaho look like Rhodes Scholars and he only has a 2 point lead? I thought he would be up by ten points in that backwater shit hole. I guess Mississippians are not as dumb as we thought they were.

    In all honesty, I think the biggest problem of all this populism, neo-nationalism, destruction of social cohesion, social-media individualism is this: There are too many humans on this planet. From a biological perspective homo sapiens is the first, big mamal plague. And only one hell of a disease can bring back order to chaos.

    Homo Sapiens have been destroying the planet. If a parasite (or cancer) attacks a host and multiplies at the same rate we have, the host would die quickly. the planet is dying and in maybe a few thousand millennium the new dominate species will ask "what killed off the humans?" just like the way we ask about the dinosaurs.

    I just watched Donald Trump answer questions at an NBC forum on military issues. I'm not a Republican (voted Obama but am more toward the middle), but I found Trump polite and considerate of the moderator and of audience members who asked questions of him; he listened and didn't talk over people; he seemed very intelligent and responsive, giving answers that related to the questions (though without much detail); unflappable; and with great sense of self or self-confidence. Different from how he talked to other candidates and called them names during the Republican primary debates, during which he was much more in "political fighting mode". My point is that, if Trump gets elected, I don't think he's so unstable that he'd immediately launch a nuclear attack, as some in the U.S. fear. This is one crazy election, but if Trump gets in, maybe he would be the right man for the time--to defend the U.S. against China, North Korea, Iran, who knows. He isn't a politician and isn't expert on foreign policy, but maybe he could apply his negotiating and leadership experience to other areas a president deals in. And he could do better than Obama increasing business, jobs, and personal income.

    Josh Marshall says in the TPM EdBlog that "It's extremely difficult to believe that number is right for Mississippi" (saying Trump's lead there is probably bigger).     Last night's debacle illustrates why something like Trump can get this far in a Presidential campaign. Our media has a jones for this man. He is a train wreck, and America loves train wrecks. And that means "hits" and "ratings."

    While there's no doubt that people in Mississippi are exceedingly backwards, I feel that South Carolina is right there in the conversation as the dumbest electorate. Here are two recent examples. Strom Thurmond was a noted racist that was elected to the Senate for 48 years(8 terms). In his last two terms he was so frail and sickly that he had to be led/assisted to walk and had bills read to him because of dementia. He opposed every civil rights measure proposed and was repulsed at the thought of African Americans being his equal in anyway. And yet Strom had a 'dark secret'. While he was battling civil rights during the day, he was having a long affair with a married African American woman. And as happens with Mother Nature, this activity produced a baby. But still Strom wasn't moved by his love child, as his re-election might suffer.

    Gov. Mark Sanford of SC went missing for a week. No one could find him-not his wife, not his 4 kids and not the press. His office said he was "walking the Appalachian Trail" and did not know when he would return. Turns out he was visiting his mistress in Argentina, like he had done many times before. He charged his plane ticket and expenses to the state of South Carolina. After his lies were discovered, he resigned as governor and his wife divorced him, you would think that Sanford would be so ashamed and disgraced he would never be heard from again. You would be wrong. Sanford couldn't help himself and ran for Congress. And the astute voters in South Carolina elected him, despite bilking the state, lying to the public and cheating on his wife.

    The race to the bottom is getting crowded. Thank you sir, may I have another?

    I heard the Trumpster try to make his case as why he should be Commander in Chief. What a laugh. He should drop out but he won't his ego won't let him. He figures that at worst he will have more customers (from his supporters) to buy his brand.

    You know, people know I'm critical of Russia, but I have to say pictures like these are pivotal and show a glimmer of positive hope and cooperation between two big world powers. Lavrov and Kerry today put a smile on my face :-).

    These are also pictures........that could people with huge differences together. Let's see how the cease fire goes in Syria.

    This has got to be the Presidential election from the Bizarro Universe. Let me make sure I've got this right: The Republicans are generally the more conservative of the two parties, and Herr Trump has spent several months trying to convince Republican voters of his conservative credentials. Okay so far. But now we have the Republican nominee for President of the USA -- the conservative Mr. Trump -- appearing on Russian TV, praising Vladimir Putin, the head totalitarian in in Russia, and comparing him favorably to the current American President. Oh, and Mr. Trump is also concurrently doing his best to stir up trouble for the President of Mexico, our neighbor to the South, a country with whom we've been on reasonably friendly terms with ever since before I was born. Can somebody please tell me when I crossed over into the Bizarro Universe and how I can get back to reality again?

    Trump isn't an ordinary candidate. He's a media manipulating populist. Those are impossible to fight. Hence why you talk about 'bizarro universe's, but in The Netherlands we have neo-nationalist, semi-fascist populists since 2002. Sadly, one has to get used to it.
