By a margin of 167-128, Dr. No prevails! A solid victory for the first ever Bond; now Spectre faces another tough test in the form of From Russia With Love. I'll start us off, as usual.

A shutout, but 18-0 isn't enough to indicate how much better FRWL is than SP.
You should also give each voters results when posting the victor of each round so everybody can see why a movie has won.
SP only lost by such a large margin to Dr. No because 2 voters alone gave 33 points to DN.
All the others had SP and DN quite balanced.
And now already some have given FRWL all the points.
The Spectre haters will ruin this thread. It's no fun. I'll stay away.
And for the record I gave DN more points than SP.
It would be interesting to post the winner in each category, but is it a bad thing that some users like DN much more than SP?
It just gives a distorted end result.
But the idea of posting the winner in each category is brilliant and much more fair I think.

This.
I didn't vote 18-0 against SP because I hate the film. I voted 18-0 against it because FRWL is genuinely better in every single category, which is the point of this thread.
The constant battering of Spectre by approx. 6 members on this site is dominating all but a few threads. Not to mention the ridiculous length some go to criticise it.
And again I gave DN more points than SP. But that little detail escaped you obviously.
Yeah adding up everyone's votes gives a distorted result. Stop your whining and try and be a better loser because you're going to to need to get used to it in this thread.
PTS: SP - FRWL's is a nice dark, tense stripped down effort. But there's not much to it. SP's has the opening tracking shot with Bond classily walking above the roof tops and a decent action sequence. Shame they didnt end it with him ending up back with the girl saying 'Told you I wouldnt be long' in true Roger style.
Title Track: FRWL - I'm not a Sam hater but come on. Classic Barry v WOTW is no contest.
Title Credits: FRWL - Classy, timeless and iconic. And although I adore Kleinman's work the octopus and topless Dan dont do much for me.
Main Villain: FRWL - Its still debatable who is the main villain - Bolfeld, Klebb or Grant but each of them piss all over Bloberhauser.
Main Bond Girl: FRWL - I quite like Madeline but you cant beat a Russian defector who greets you in bed just wearing stockings and a choker.
Henchman: FRWL - I'm assuming this is Grant so an easy win. If its Morzeny then I'd go Hinx.
Overall Plot: FRWL - Classic Fleming v botched P&W? FFS.
Dialogue: FRWL - See above. Maibaum at his peak adapting Fleming v botched P&W.
Score: FRWL - Dont take the piss.
Settings: SP - Have to say I prefer a larger variety and love Rome and Austria although it is very close.
Action: FRWL - Apart from the two fights I'm not blown away by the rest of the action in either. And good though Bond v Hinx is Bond v Grant is definitive.
Humour: FRWL - They were still setting the series template here but the humour between Bond and Kerim is very well played. SP does OK but its up against a very tough competitor here.
Cinematography: FRWL - After SF SP is a disappointment and the Istanbul location stuff is very nice in FRWL.
Benign Bizarre: FRWL - Siamese fighting fish, watch garrote, poisoned knife shoes, SPECTRE training camp - lovely stuff. SP only really has the never used thumb knives and the torture scene.
Suspense: FRWL - Turned up to 11 in the train scenes before exploding into the fight.
Minor Characters: FRWL - Kerim, Krilencu, Morzeny, Vavra, even the train conductor ('Mr Somerset, Mr Somerset') and not to mention the original Wizard himself.
Glamour: FRWL - A bottle of Dom Perignon chilling in the river, Istanbul in the days before most people had been to Calais, belly dancing, Orient Express. And all done dressed impeccably rather than Dan bursting out of his awful suits the whole time.
Bond Performance: FRWL - Perfect embodiment of Ian Fleming's creation.

I guess I like SP a bit better than most.
Agree I don't mind SP though FRWL is a classic.
Agreed. There are few Bond films that wouldn't get a trouncing at the hands of FRWL if they went head-to-head in this contest.
I was just thinking exactly that. I guess I'd end up with a lot of "TIE" doing that face off
I think it's safe to move onto GF now @Soundofthesinners
