Would anyone recommend NBC's Hannibal to me? I've heard great things about it and am very much into crime shows with an edge. Luther is one of my favorite shows ever, and Hannibal seems to have the same sort of psychological underpinnings that give it a distinct darkness.

Hannibal's a great show. Mads is amazing, a true menace. I watched 2 episodes of the last season but I just couldn't get into it. When I have some downtime I'll revisit and complete the season.

As for last tv show watched, the walking dead mid season premiere. Truly fantastic and explosive episode. Wasn't expecting some of the things that happened in this episode but I'm so glad it did.

@doubleoego, thanks for your perspective. Mads was definitely the first thing that drew me to the show. He looks and sounds so serpent like, and I think that makes for one hell of a characterization for Lecter. I'll have to check it out soon.

There's so much I want to watch, and I can't choose what to run through first. I'll probably end up balancing five shows at once in the coming weeks.

Hamish Macbeth - the Highland based police officer that is happy about his village live and does not fancy any promotion starring Robert Carlyle.

The series 6 part 2 premiere of The Walking Dead did not disappoint.

Agreed. I bought the whole set and watched it a few weeks ago for the first time. Great series. Love the interplay between Byrne's and Close's characters. What a 'B' Patty Hewes is!

Has anyone caught the first episode of 'Vinyl' (the new Scorsese show on HBO) or '11.22.63' (based on the Stephen King novel)?
  • Subscribed to WWE Network, mainly for nostalgic reasons. 30 plus years of content, certainly get your monies worth. Watching Table for 3 that was shot last year with the late great Rowdy Piper chatting with Mean Jean and Paul Ornoff. God bless you Rowdy.

    Walking dead.

Rick and Michonne get it on! Saw that coming from the start of the episode and Jesus looks set to be a very interesting character.

Ploughed through some more of The X Files, now on to Season 6 of my rewatch. One particular episode caught my eye and that was "Triangle", which as the title pretty much suggests is a Bermuda Triangle themed episode. The reason it caught my eye is that three of the acts within the episode are one long, continuous shot. They are extremely well done, with no special effects. The second act in particular with Scully looking for help is the one that stands out for special credit. Now, I love the opening shot of SP but I know that this is not, actually, one continuous shot. This scene in The X Files is just brilliant, showing how it can be done. Well worth a watch, great episode.

Agreed. I don't think an animated series has come close since.

I'm still waiting for WB to do remasters of the Batman animated series. Why they haven't yet, I have no idea. Maybe for the big 25th anniversary? They've done West's Batman for Blu-ray, why not TAS?

Talking of Batman the Animated series, interview with the great Paul Dini from yesterday.

Been working my way through Batman Animated series again over the past year, a few episodes from end of season 3. Season four beckons when there was a shift in the tone and style of Animation.

I honestly prefer the style of season 4 to the previous ones. I've always hated that yellow and black bat symbol for whatever reason, as well. The suit Batman wears in season 4 is by far my favorite from all of Batman lore. Simple but effective.

Living in the UK I have never seen Season Four of Batman Animated series in its entirety, Amazon prime and Netflix have given me opportunity to watch alot of shows that were previously unavailable to me.

Which brings me to Chuck season 5, UK tv stopped showing Chuck, at last I am watching the final season on Netflix.

I've been wanting B:TAS to stream on Netflix forever now, but sadly it hasn't come to pass. If it did, I'd devote all my energies to watching it.
  • It's currently on Amazon Prime, God it would benefit from a Blu ray upgrade.... it's pretty grainy :(

I will for sure, Amazon Prime has all the Animated Justice League and Superman Animated series as well as Beware the Batman and quite alot more. Had alot to catch up on :)

I always keep my eyes open for a Remastered Mask of the Phantasm, it was recently re released on DVD though no improvement.

I wonder why WB have held off on remasters for the films and tv show? They're the most popular Batman related thing out there.

Baffles me also, perhaps after the recent treatment the Batman 66 series got they will look to remastering classic animated shows. Hopefully BvS will be successful and start a greater demand for DC's back catalogue, here's hoping.

Yeah, Batman 66's remaster had me hoping that too. The show's 25th anniversary is approaching in Sept. 2017, so maybe our wish will finally come true. By the way, 25 years! Man that makes me feel old. It came out just a year shy of my birth.

Ha! That makes you feel old! I couldn't wait to get out of school so I could go home and watch it as it originally aired! ;)

It actually looks way better on DVD than it does on Amazon Prime, to be fair. It wouldnt take too much to remaster the hell out of it, I hope!

Makes me feel older, I was a teenager at the time. Crikey, time flies.

Superb main titles as well. Interestingly, both Spectre and The Night Manager have the "hot/cold" thing going on.

    Spectre - Austria/Morocco
    TNM - /Cairo/Austria (or was is Switzerland?)/Spain

Yes, The titles are fantastic ( as we're the ones for The Game, another BBC SPY series).
and I find Hugh Laurie especially good, a real sense of sleaze and arrogance.
