I did order the Berlin Babylon series as I did try to watch it on TV, I know very old fashioned, but found that I had some late shifts and missed segments. So ordered the whole Blurays set series 1 & 2, from what I saw another brilliant series about a pre WWII Berlin. I even enjoyed the first three books were the TV show came from

War of the Worlds Episode 1, one of my favorite books alas this adaption is deviating somewhat from the source material.

Jack Ryan Season 2. It was good, but I did like the first season slightly better.

I'm about a quarter of the way into the 4th season of Fringe. It's become a slog though. I'm not sure whether to just quit or see it all the way through.

Exactly how I felt about Jack Ryan. I'll gladly watch a season three, provided it happens, however.

As for me, doing my 15th or 16th rewatch of my all time favorite series, Deadwood, then following it up with my first rewatch of the film.

Never managed to get through Fringe myself. Liked the first couple of seasons, then it just became - like you write - a slog. One day I might give it another chance.

Anyone watching the new His Dark Materials adaptation? Never been a reader of those, but I'm finding it's a gargantuous production with a brilliant theme by Lorne Balfe, and very good casting.

Now on the third episode of The Crown season 3. Good production; lost a bit of the flair from the old cast. Still Tobias holds up nicely in his role. And Coleman is always brilliant.

The Morning Show is proving to be quite the ride as well. Very well written, good pacing, stellar cast, and a poignant subject.

And I'm loving The Mandalorian, just feels like episodes of Samurai Jack to me. And that's a good thing.

Been re watching The Equalizer. Last wateched episodes (from the first series: Confirmation Day, The Childrens Song and The Distant Fire.

    The-Equalizer-courtesy-freerepublic.com_.jpg

Edward Woodward was a stone cold tough guy, wrapped in the veneer of a gentleman. And he could explode with rage like no other actor. Best 80's action series bar none.

    The Loudest Voice 2019

The man we can thank for Fox News and pretty much Donald Trump becoming President. Roger Aisles is the focus of this excellent drama. Russell Crowe delivers his best performance since his masterful work on Michael Mann's The Insider.

Though Crowe here as seriously flawed Roger Aisles is electrifying, his performance is like a force of nature, buried under prosthetic's and barely recognisable, though you can tell it's Crowe, only an actor of his calibre could pull off a performance like this.

The 8 part drama which begins in the 1990's goes right up to Trump's ascendancy to POTUS is a compelling, engrossing experience. We witness Rupert Murdoch (Simon McBurney) handing the opportunity to Aisles to begin Fox News. Sienna Miller as Aisles ever faithful and somewhat naive wife Beth is like you've never seen her before, also with the help of prosthetic's delivers career defining work.

Naomi Watts is excellent in the role of Gretchen Carlson the woman who was responsible for bringing down Aisles after she exposed his philandering and sexual harassment and opened the floodgates to other Fox News female employees coming forward with their encounters with Aisles. Watts is also very good.

Its fascinating and infuriating witnessing the birth of this phenomenal behemoth of a monstrosity that is Fox News and Roger Aisles is its architect. A truly abominable and moral free monster of a man. The fact he is given so much freedom and power is extraordinary and frightening.

Rupert Murdoch who seems perfectly content with letting Aisles spread his lies and propaganda, witness Aisles trying to derail the Obama campaign and pretty much starting the idea of calling him a Muslim. it would be all to extraordinary to believe but this played out on TV screens across America and undoubtedly laid the carpet out for Donald Trump's journey to the White House.

Well worth your time although a sad endorsement of what America has become and here on display is one of the key individuals who fed that fire then set it ablaze.

    The Boys

    This is just so good.

Has a 'Watchmen' feel to it. Profane, violent and Karl Urban being the complete A-Hole. Funny and scary in equal parts. Greatest line ever... "He's tighter than a choirboys a-hole...!"

    Giri Haji 2019

4 nights in a row bingeing this, not minute wasted. 8 episodes of, original, compelling, humorous, innovative and emotional TV.

Can't recommend it enough, you've never seen anything like it before.

Also brave enough to say enough is enough, no cliffhanger here for another series, so refreshing.

    Callan
    Series: 2
    Episode: Death Of A Hunter.

Christ... that was bleak... but a damn fine performance from Woodward. Gave me TMWTGG (book not film), vibes. Parts of this show might be considered dated, but writing this good, will never age. I can't wait to see how Callan will come back from the climax of Death Of A Hunter.

Finally saw the closing two episodes of CSI the original show and it felt nice to see it and see Grissom return, his chemistry with Sidle has always been great. But I felt a bit cheated as the major characters form the last seasons were on the sideline and never got the proper goodbyes like Catherine, Gil & Sara got.
Hodges, Greg, Henry, Morgan did do a great job and never got a proper sendoff, Nick did get one at the end of season 15. That is my only gripe with this final episode. Even Lady Heather got a decent ending.

CSI Las Vegas and New York remain my favorites and whenever they are on the telly they offer comfort TV.

    WATCHMEN

A couple episodes in, this is pretty interesting, but nowhere near the level of the source material despite Dave Gibbons involvement. Taking place in the present day, the most interesting bits so far are from a show within the show, about the Minutemen.

Every scene with Jeremy Irons is gold, though.

    Callan
    Series: 3
    Episodes:

    Amos Green Must Live
Callan and Cross are given the job of protecting a white politician with hardline views on immigration, from a black power group. A story that, at times, feels very 2019.

    God Help Your Friends
Callan and Cross are tasked with breaking up the burgeoning relationship beteen a government interpretor and a suspected spy. A job which leads to tragic consequences.

The Witcher - 4 episodes in (illness is a Netflix excuse) and the series is quite decent, I would not mind Henry being the next 007 he looks buff enough.

I have never read the books or played the games so I have no frame of reference, the first episode grabbed me immediately and I am interested to learn more about this fantasy world.

Just watched episode 3 that was excellent, I have a theory of what is going on it will be interesting to see if what I think plays out. I did get one of the Witcher games on Xbox Gold though never played it, I think it was Witcher 3.
