While being depressed during the time of my movie theater being closed (also my part-time job), I've been heavily playing video games by system.

N64: Goldeneye 007, Super Smash Bros. Classics I could never give up.

Xbox: Roller Coaster Tycoon still fun to learn about money after all these years.

PS4: Star Wars Battlefront 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, L.A. Noire, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Spider-Man.

Can't wait for: Blade Runner Remastered, South Park: Rally, Star Wars: Squadrons, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty: Cold War, Gotham Knights.

Metal Gear Solid was recently rereleased on PC via GoG.com, so I've been diving through that for the millionth time.

Finished Resident Evil 0. Turns out I was able to get back to the circular lift, where I dropped my shotgun ammo. I went back down in the lift, to where I had defeated the Proto Tyrant. No Proto Tyrant, but there was now a large hole in the wall leading to the curcular lift (that is by no means suspicious).
I played this originally on the game Cube, and I remembered only bits and pieces of the game. It's.... alright.

Next up: Resident Evil, (the HD Remaster, of the remake, of the game that started it all).

If you ever get the opportunity to play those on the Switch, they are two of the best portable experiences you'll ever have.

Were they released on the Switch? I dididn't know that.

0, 1 remake, 4, 5, 6, Revelations and Revelations 2 are all on the Switch.

That's a few games then, good for Switch players that they get can get their RE fix.

    Resident Evil.
Playing as Jill, naturally. Was tempted to go with the BSAA costume, but nostalgia won out, so she is in her original og costume. This is my first time playing the HD Remaster, and it looks amazing. The gently swinging chandelier in the west wing stairway as never looked so good.

@MaxCasino - How is Mafia: Definitive Edition? It looks good. I might grab a copy this coming week.

I've wondered the same regarding the Mafia remake - looks like a proper rebuild but too much similarity to Mafia 3, which was one awful installment.

In answer to your questions about the Mafia remake: I was hooked from the start, but I'm easily impressed. I wish it could have had a first-person option, but I am enjoying the shooting mechanics in the game. All in all, a great purchase (for myself at least). Next week, Star Wars Squadrons.

Just finished Mafia: Definitive Edition. It was enjoyable, a bit short but totally worth it!

    Fallout 4 Nuka World DLC.

Just picture Fallout at Disney World. Surprisingly fun and I haven't even started the main quests yet. I've been doing the National Treasure-esque scavenger hunt.

Bought Fifa 20 from the PSN store last week. Reduced to £4 (93% discount) due to the pending release of Fifa 21. An absolute bargain and the first footy game I've bought in twenty years.

As I never played the third game, I am thinking of getting the trilogy.

    Resident Evil
Played a little bit more today. Just enjoying the atmosphere, and the drip feed of information from the documents.

Star Wars Squadrons. It made me sick with all the first person movements in the cockpit.

Still taking my time with Resident Evil. I have gone from the mansion, through the residence, and the laboratory, back through the residence, to the mansion and am now in the underground caves.

I also noticed that the classic costume pack for the RE3 remake is on sale, so I grabbed it while it is only £1.86.

Finished Resident Evil, with a time of 8hrs 33 mins. At some point I will replay from Chris' pov. But for the time being I have moved on to...

    header.jpg?t=1601519027

I realise that I am in the extreme minority, but I am enjoying the game so far. Especially this depicition of Jill (which has attricted hate from fans), she is suffering from PTSD from what happened at the Spencer Mansion, and the resulting investigation has been shut down by her boss. It's obvious why she would have an attitude.
I want to see this Jill in another game, one where she finally meets Claire (how has that never happened?).

I loved it. I know I don't have the same connection to the original series that others do, but running through after the Platinum Trophy, playing the game numerous times through, was such a blast, especially going for 'beat the game in X amount of time,' which is surprising considering I usually despise time trial-related trophies.

I sort of remember the original RE3, but that was 20 years ago. Like you, I don’t really go after speedrun trophies, but as I will be replying the game at least once, I will see what others I can grab.

I, too, have recently been replaying Resident Evil 3, and I'm going to admit, I'm one of those you speak of who doesn't much care for it. It has moments, it has things I like. Jill and Carlos' characterizations both work so much better, the hospital section is so much more expansive and the continuity is a tiny bit better between it and the remake of 2 than the original 2 and 3 had.

But then there's what was taken away that made the original such a better experience. The randomization element with the ammo and weaponry, the live selection mechanic that let you decide the story path, the sandbox elements of choosing your route and thus changing which characters showed up where. All of these added to the replayability in ways just doing difficulty challenges can't, because they led to truly different moments.

And then the biggest problem is Nemesis himself. He was such a better enemy in the original because of the stalker element that's all but gone here. Once again, your choices determined where he showed up, while here every moment is scripted. And then his mutations late in the game are simply poor. The only element of this Nemesis that I like is his ability to implant parasites into zombies, but that's used so sparingly that it really doesn't matter.

As a gameplay experience, it's not a bad game at all, because it built upon the strong base that was the remake of 2. As a remake of the original, it's just not good. Coming off of the remake of 2, which was almost obnoxiously faithful to the original despite the changes, this one pretty much threw away everything good about the original in favor for something that had no identity of its own and really only exists as an addendum to the remake of RE2.

One criticism I have of RE3R, is that I wish the city map were bigger.

Finished RE3. I really enjoyed it, and hope that it won't be too long before we see Jill again. I'm thinking what to buy in the shop for my next playthrough. I don't think I have enough points for the hip pouch, and the lockpick. The lockpick isn't far into the game, so I might just grap the hip pouch.

I remember trying to complete as many of those challenges as I could so I could get the infinite weapons and whatnot. It was a lot of fun, surprisingly.

What are you moving onto next? Chronologically, the next game in the series is Code Veronica, but that one can be a slog to get through, especially as there's a puzzle late in the game that requires split second reflexes with a control scheme that doesn't allow them.

I believe the next one should be RE2. RE3 begins, RE2 begins, RE2 ends, and then RE3 ends. I hadn't planned on playing Code Veronica X, to be honest. My copy is boxed away with my other PS2 games, and I don't have the room to set up my PS2 at the moment. If I played that, then I would have to also play Dead Aim, which while I liked the setting, didn't float my boat.

    Sniper Elite 3
Played the Fort Rifugio mission, and bagged 2 trophies; I Fort This Would Be Difficult (get to the informant without being detected), and Hidden & Dangerous (complete a mission without being detected). I was already aiming for the former on this mission, so it made sense to kill two birds with one stone bullet. Normally I am not much of a trophy hunter, but these two both required stealth, so I felt more inclined to have a go at them.

GTA San Andreas (PS2 Classic) on PS4.

Goodness me this game brings back memories. I can almost remember the layout of the map.

The PS4 version emulates the PS2 game so there are no further enhancements. Its runs same as it did on PS2 but upscaled to 4k.

Ouch, its age shows, technically at least. A full on remake of this, and VC, would be awesome.

I agree on the remasters, plus put GTA 4 on there as well.

I've been playing these so much lately to tide me over until the PS5 is out. I wish GTA IV was available on the PS4, it's my favorite of the series by far and easily my all time favorite game.

In terms of console I am still stuck in two climax battles on the hardest difficulty

Batman Arkham Origins Bane fight in the hotel
    Bloodstone: the bloody helicopter fight

On the other hand I am doing exceptionally well in injustice gods among us for the mobile phone I also want to redo Batman telltale season one at some point because I have fond memories of it

I really hate that Bond in video games is dead while I understand the move from Video games to comic books it still annoys me that we can’t have both

Hopefully the next era will bring in some more interest in terms of the James Bond titles as video games, but I'm not optimistic. Been radio silent for many years now.
