    Are people so short sighted as to not see what is really happening here.

    Standard class- unsupervised, kids screaming, texting, people having sex etc. = £10

    First class- ushers make sure everyone can enjoy the film = £15

    When I saw TFA there was a group of young children who talked throughout the film, loud enough for me to hear from across the room. They weren't whispering, but shouting to each other. They even got louder when the action started. There was no sight of any usher/employee telling them to shut it.

    I know someone with ADHD but he was able to sit through movies quite easily without having to text or any of that. On the other hand, the last time I went to the cinema, the person next to me kept getting out their phone to change music. Why were they even listening to music with their stupid earphones in a cinema? The movie would be playing and I'd see them take out their phone (the brightness would've made it visible throughout the entire row) and then switch songs. They had one earphone in so they could listen to music while the movie was going on. I swear I was close to throwing their phone.

    Yes, you're probably right about this. I refuse to play along though, being a cheapskate. So I guess I'll be sharing the theatre with the low rent plebs enduring all the distractions, or will have to try and get my watch in when the kids are at school or something.

    Taking something which was Perviously considered part of the experience and removing it to monetize separately is the modern way, I'm afraid. That's capitalism for you: giving the worst possible service at the highest possible price. Companies are getting better at it all the time.

    Distractions are annoying at theaters and the only film I ever see in the theater anymore is Bond. The thing for me is that I don't want to sit in a dark room with a bunch of other people I don't know and God knows who is coming in and out of there at any time. It's just too much of a security risk.

    Add $10 to the blu-ray pre-purchase (around $30-35) for the privilege of streaming the movie on demand the night it comes out and you got a deal. $50+ seems a little like those ridiculous pay-per-view specials to me. I'd have to pass at that price for in-home streaming.

    Isn't there an opportunity here for some to open a cinema to appeal to people who aren't cretinous morons and want to see the film?

    How about a place where they have guys monitoring the audience and anyone seen on their phone gets dragged out by their hair and has their phone and fingers smashed with a hammer like De Niro in Casino?

    I'd pay a few extra quid on a ticket for that service.

    That place is Switzerland. On repeated flashing with the smartphone you either get thrown out or the staff takes the phone away. Not sure about the finger smashing though.

    The key word there isn't "repeated," as you shouldn't even receive a warning at this point. Can I pull out a cigarette and light it during a movie and receive a warning by feigning ignorance? No. You go into a theater, you know the rules by now.

    I was at a theatre the other day where they serve you dinner during the movie. The guy next to me when he gets his bill takes his cell phone out and puts the flash light on and shines it right in my direction to see his bill.

    He was with his family so I decided to avoid confrontation and just shield my eyes. It was lighting out entire row and went on for five minutes. Not sure why he was taking so long to see a price. Painful.

    Theaters that serve you dinner during the movie got old for me very fast, when I realized there's just as much distraction as there is someone using their phone: servers yelling out questions about an order, customers yelling out questions about the menu/prices, servers walking back and forth, back and forth the entire movie, along with the little lights at the bottom of the tables to read the menu/bill kills the theater experience for me.
