Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie are absolutely brilliant in this gripping six part mini series. A must watch for any fan of espionage thrillers. Plenty of Bond references and even a part for Tobias Menzies aka Villiers from Casino Royale.
If you haven't started watching it yet, do yourself a favour.

    Yes. Great show. I loved every episide, brilliant cast. =D>
    along with The Game , they're some of the best espionage
    dramas the BBC have done.

    I will be jumping in to this conversation in a few days, as we'll be getting it here on Tuesday - finally. Tom's my guy to replace DC, so I'm hoping for good things. Love Hugh Laurie too.

    Very good show. Hiddleson is fantastic, although I still don't have him as Craig's successor - yet.

    Hugh Laurie would be a good Bond villain, he gave the best performance in The Night Manager for me.

    It has been discussed a little in the Next Bond Actor category, for obvious reasons.

    Very good show, slightly let down by some aspects of the final episode.

    Ah well I will post my reviews per show here rather then last bond movie you watched but still focusing mainly on how good or bad the show is and if Hiddleston and Barr( the director) could fit as Bond and director respectfully for bond 25 (or 26 if Craig indeed comes back like I hope he will) I should have the first review on Thursday as Its on Tuesday at 10 which means me and my wife won't see it till Wednesday oh how I love recording television I remeber the dark ages of either staying up or having to use your vcr to record it..)

    So I finally got to see the first episode yesterday. Very impressed so far. Great acting by everyone, quite suspenseful, has atmospheric visuals, and Hiddleston rocks as James B.. (Sorry, Jonathan Pine).

    I'm open to David Farr (screenplay) having involvement with Bond, Susanne Bier for directing, and Víctor Reyes for scoring duties. All impressed yesterday.

    Both Hiddleston and Laurie pretty much nixed the idea of a 2nd season recently, so there is hope that some of this team can be considered for inclusion by EON.

    They've said they'd do season 2 only if John Le Carre writes a sequel novel, which he is considering .So don't loose hope just yet.

    Here's an idea - how about Le Carre writing Bond 25? Or at least providing an outline.

    Not going to happen obviously given how he's slated Bond in the past but we can always dream can't we?

    Given Le Carre's previously stated antipathy for the Bond character/series I'm not sure he'd be interested.

    Well David Farr looks like he knows how to adapt an older novel to current times, so perhaps he could be brought in to take a continuation novel and work from there. So far, I'm impressed with how he reportedly contemporized Le Carre's work.

    Absolutely superb series, enjoyed every episode. I'd have no problem with TH as Bond on the back of his performance here.

    Yes, given this I was surprised how Bond-like The Night Manager was. However I haven't read the original novel, even though I really like Le Carre, just haven't got round to it, which I believe was set in the early 1990s so may be a bit different.

    I enjoyed the first episode, but I am not sold on Hiddleston as Bond. He is indeed rather dashing and charming, but he's also too fragile-looking, in a Jeremy Irons sort of way. He looks like he weights about 150 lbs soaking wet.

    I think Turner could play a Daltonesque Bond. That's why I would take him over Hiddleston.

    I enjoyed the night manager and thought Hugh Laurie was good casting. Although
    would roper really buy that the polite shy Pine was a hot headed psychopath who viciously killed someone in sleepy cornwall and then did a runner? Also, that he managed to run across him in two remote locations. Thought the ending was clever though

    I watched the first episode. The plot seems interesting so far. I'll probably DVR the rest of the series.

    I am definitely not sold on Hiddleston as Bond though. At least not yet. He's like... an adorable little puppy.

    Agreed. That's my only gripe really with a cracking piece of television.

    At one point Roper says 'I never trust anybody.' but then for some inexplicable reason he decides to trust Pine.

    Turners voice and lack of charisma make him unsuitable.

    I've now watched 'The Night Manager'. I want DC to stay. But if he has to be replaced I'm sold on Tom Hiddleston. Chraisma, screen presence, good looking, the physique that Fleming described, good at action and the drama, good age, height and has a perfect voice for the role.

    After four episodes I can safely say this show is fantastic looking forward to the final two episodes and even my wife likes it....

    As for Hiddleston I still want Craig for one more film (just to wrap up the loose ends from spectre but in all honesty I would like two films from him one to wrap up Swann and bond rejoining mi6 and then one to have a final confrontation between Bond and Blofeld) but yeah Hiddleston is my top choice

    Also impressed by Hiddleston in THE NIGHT MANAGER.

    He could play Bond, I think, once he's a little older and provided he bulked up a bit.
