5 game franchises that could be the next big movie franchises

now, we all know that some game franchises, when put on the big screen, fail epically. Tomb raider could've been the next idiana jones but became another pointless jodie movie, and im not even gonna discuss that awful super mario bros movie. But here are 5 game franchises (in no particular order) that could be the next big thing. If you have any other ideas then leave them below.

UNCHARTED: ever since indiana jones disapeared there has been a hole in cinema for action adventures involving tombs and treasure. The awful tomb raider failed to fill that hole. But drake could be the next indy and uncharted could be a huge franchise. Luckily it seems like a film could be coming.

JUST CAUSE: a CIA agent with a parachute and a grappling hook blasts his way through his missions to make the world a more free place, who doesnt want to see an awesome action movie based on this game. With greater mission variety than invading islands it could become an awesome series, and rico rodgriugez could quickly become the next bond/bourne type figure.

ASSASINS CREED: some great free running chases could come out of this one, but i see no need for desmond. I think if they make this game into a movie series they should just use a different assasin every film, ditch the whole sci-fi thing. Start of with an altair film, then ezio, then use other assasins.

HALO: cmon, this could easily be the next star wars. Imagine the awesome space battles that could come out of this one.

GRAND THEFT AUTO: With more in depth storyline and if they stick with one character this series could be the next godfather. If they toned down the pointless robberies and stuff this could be a great movie.

    Please no more games filmed, lets have some decent and original scripted movies. And let the games have their adventures in the game stations.
    So far I have yet to see one good movie based upon a game. I said GOOD movie.

    I'm going to second this one. I have not seen a actual good film come from a video game. I mean, Lara Croft and Price of Persia were 'meh', and not atrocious like Doom and Super Mario Bros., but they still weren't GOOD films. I've loved the Halo games, but having a main character who's entire face is masked the whole film doesn't sound like it would work.

    No Uncharted films unless Nolan North or Nathan Fillion plays Drake. A bad movie would tarnish the great characters and source material(the games).

    personally i really want a just cause movie because of the awesome stunts. But cmon, just because there hasnt been any award winning game movies in the past doesnt mean there couldnt be one in the future.

    And have you never played a game where something awesome happened and thought "god that was cool, i wish it was in a movie"

    and apparently there is an uncharted movie in the works

    personally i really want a just cause movie because of the awesome stunts.
    There are plenty of films with impressive stunts. But I think to many people (myself included), impressive stunts/flashy action sequences mixed with a 'whatever' plot have never been good bedfellows when it comes to films. In video games this works because the main point of a video game is to play the action! There are some interesting video game plot lines that could make a good film; but the filmmakers would likely treat it as an adaptation of a video game and not an actual MOVIE. They make the movies based on video games too much like the game, and because we cannot play it, the concept isn't as interesting or worthwhile. Granted, this is just my outlook, but I think this is why many video games fail as films.

    I wished they'd do something with WWE, I used to be a bit of a wrestling enthusiast and they brought out titles such as Here Comes The Pain and various Raw vs Smackdown variations, would it be an impossibility to turn them into some kind of big screen adaptation, I don't mean have the real wrestlers as themselves, or maybe in an ideal world if they could do that, it's just a passing thought.

    On second thoughts this idea seems doomed to failure, but they had 'story mode' included and maybe it could of worked in theaters, I don't know.

    the wrestler is a great wrestling film. right now on TNA wrestling you can catch 2 real life adaptions starring ric flair and hulk hogan.

    Hell, I'd rather be stuck in an elevator with Thievery Corporation and a pack of flatulent dogs than watch another show of that crap

    What I mean is, I did used to watch it every once and a while but never again, I can't stand it anymore and haven't watched for some time, hate it now for whatever reasons

    On the actual thread piece, I didn't mean a single wrestler movie such as the Mickey Rourke character but a whole host of active names or ones from the past such as Triple H or Lesnar being made into film as a kind of story mode picture

    lensars story could be massive because it could include his UFC career as well.

    as for HHH, he should have a TV show where he gives buissness tips, i can see it now

    "step 1 secure pro wrestling contract"

    "step 2, sleep with and eventually marry bosses daughter"

    "step 3, sit back, enjoy multiple title reigns and soon take over multi-million dollar company"

    as for TNA, i used to watch it all the time when it offered something different, it used to be so awesome. Now its full of WWE rejects and just puts on poor TV. I'd rather watch never say never again and the james bond jr TV show mixed into one big ball of garbage than TNA.
