TSWLM always feels short to me. I guess it's because I love the song so much.

I love how it segues into Carly at the end from the band of men singing (sounds like a navy chant or something at first)

    one, two, skip a few...
    SP 6 minutes 40 seconds

    Quite revealing.

The question is...does the end credits count as running time. Because that is cheating!

    Indeed.

@PropertyOfALady were they from DVD or Blu Ray - they should be longer on Blu Ray than DVD because of the 24fps on Blu Ray?

Maybe this calls for further analysis.
    What about the main credits?
    I'll measure them tonight.

We could also analyse length of PTS too.

    Good idea!
I'll measure it all tonight if Property agrees :)

I always watch them completely. But I do it with practically every film I watch.

Still, always felt the end music was part of the film.

So this means that if we remove the end credits from the run time, SP beats OHMSS by, what, 5 seconds or so?

Are there so many more people involved now, or is it just the trade unions who insist they must all be mentioned?

Anyone got the LOTR extended films - end credits on them are like 10-12 mins, I think there's even a list of the names of fans that must have somehow been able to get their name on there.

On the face of it a scraping the bottom of the barrel thread but it actually turns out to be quite interesting.

So for all the banging on about how SP has the longest running time it turns out that it might still be OHMSS?

I guess we need to add up the GB (I would imagine SP would be longer given the musical lead in before the dots and the pretentious dead are alive thing) and the title sequence to get a final result.
Are there so many more people involved now, or is it just the trade unions who insist they must all be mentioned?

Perhaps they want to avoid a Nikki Van Der Zyl disgruntlement situation by crediting absolutely everyone these days?

Whats revealing is just how much longer SP is to SF. Thats a lot of extra names. Presumably most of them explosives riggers?

Maybe they are thanking everyone who read the books?

@TheWizardOfIce I just had a look, SP is 2 seconds longer than OHMSS if we don't count the end credits in the runtime.

So in terms of actual film running time it must be longer because 'The dead are alive' must be at least 5 seconds.

Although I think the ITV version of OHMSS is 90 mins without all the adverts.

Lets not forget the ABC version of OHMSS which repeated sections twice. Probably comes in around the 3 hour mark.

Unions have pushed for more and more members to get credited in the credits. I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

Funny the QoS ending credits are almost longer than the film.

Bond by numbers was fun so I'll consult with Property tonight to see what else (insane thing) we could do :)

Maybe you can write down all the end credits, and post them here? That should keep you busy for a while.

Brilliant idea! Will add this to the already long list of tasks. Can't wait. After all no Civil War tonight :(

Or we could browse the end credits of each to see which film featured the most crew and actors that share names with Bond characters.

For example I noticed in SP's end credits there was some guy ...I think in the stunt team.. named Silva.

There was also a Goldfinger I think in LTK someplace.

Time killers til real B25 news. *sigh*
