    John Barry - 80 (+1) - a fellow Yorkshireman!

    Make that three!

If you ever visit York, the Mecca Bingo hall there used to be Barry's father's cinema/theatre.

I'm sure I will (I'll be studying there for at least 3 years!)!

It really is very difficult to compare a composer who has done just one JB soundtrack up against those with a body of work.

For The GoldenEye Overture alone Sierra deserves that ranking :)

I couldn t get myself to kill off the Conti score, as it has some great moments. The Rocky and disco pastiches during the ski chase and the (great) car chase are horrendous. The score and also the silent moments during the Locque kill and the mountain climb, however, are magnificent.

Not among my favourites, but glad to see a top five spot for FYEO.

It's nice to see Michael Kamen get some love around here. I always enjoyed his score for LTK. His style works wonderfully in Bond's universe. I wish he could have done another one.

Kamen did great for LTK. He really put some effort into it, and it was very fitting for that film with it s Latin American sound.

Also, the bullet ricochet Bond theme? Genius.

Part of the fun for me in watching Bond movies from previous decades is being transported to that time by the type of effects used, the score, and the fashions and hair styles.

    Marvin deserved better.

It's a really enjoyable score, poorly served by the soundtrack album.

I do like Kamen's score, but of the remaining, I prefer the others work.

I'm a big fan of all his work including GE. I do agree Hamlisch deserved a tad better, but that's how it goes I suppose.

For that reason, it's forgivable that it ranked so low. But this isn't a soundtrack game, so as far as the music accompanying the film goes, Hamlisch provided a much more appropriate and elegant sound for The Spy Who Loved Me than Serra's Goldeneye and Conti's For Your Eyes Only in my opinion.
