Noticed yesterday, a lorry had on its back panel ( the bit the trailer attaches to )
Was decorated with the faces of Spock, Kirk, Bones and Scotty. All in a pencil
    Sketch effect, looked fantastic.

What do you mean? I don't understand. Where did you see it? Do you have pictures?

Sadly didn't have my phone, many lorry drivers decorate their trucks, and this
Driver is obviously a fan of the original series. On the biggest panel behind the
Cab, he has the four portraits each one a meter or two high, which look like
    Pencil sketches.

Shocking news. The second actor who played Pavel Chekov, Anton Yelchin, has died today in a tragic car accident. May he rest in peace :-(

I am truly shocked and saddened to learn of this a few days ago. My laptop has been playing up, so have been unable to get on? Heard that they are investigating what happened but that is the last i heard?

It's official ear Trekkies! The first season of "Star Trek 2017" will contain 13 episodes that all connect one big storyline. By doing so, the new Trek-series will indeed follow the footsteps of another Trek-TV-series that also had an ongoing storyline: "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine":

    http://www.denofgeek.com/uk/tv/star-trek/37600/star-trek-tv-series-one-big-story-over-13-episodes

For the people that are disappointed that "Star Trek 2017" only has 13 episodes and not 20-26, one has to realize that in the current Netflix-era TV-series on average have only 10 to 14 episodes. This also goes for relatively new Sci-Fi TV Series like "The Expanse", "The Man In The High Castle" and "Wayward Pines".

New online platforms like Netflix, Amazon Originals and CBS All Access are the future.

Are you also going to watch the new "Star Trek" TV series?

And a more generic question: The new Trek-series will be broadcasted in the USA on CBS All Access. But what about other countries in the world? Will CBS be selling the series to more ordinary media formats, 'normal' commercial and public channels outside the USA?

In the meanwhile some more news about the use of progressive themes in the new Trek-series, like LGBT:

And, the first drawings of what could be the new capatin??

There is a very good chance I'll watch the new show, not sure how it will be broadcast in the UK as yet.

I think CBS will sell the TV Series abroad to more common TV channels, instead of Netflix or Amazon. Because there are no real plans to launch CBS all Access abroad within the next 6 months. Unless CBS sells the new Trek series to Netflix (UK) as well.

Seven episodes into TNG it's the first time I have watched the remastered version with enhanced effects of this particular season, up to now season one is greatly improved.

Really? I am stunned how unpopular Star Trek is in here, compared to the 'almighty', childish Star Wars X(

Hey, I am a big fan of Star Trek. I just don't feel the need to talk about it before I have been teased a bit more about the upcoming series.

Science fiction is a broad church. I love Star Trek, but I'm no expert, and yes I
do prefer it to Star Wars. ;) I seem to be one of the few who love the rebooted
ST, and can't wait to see " Beyond" .
Although I'm not a fan of ranking movies etc. Even with Bond. I have my top
5 but after that ...... they're pretty much all the same. :)

There's always George Takei's views on Sulu being Gay in the Star Trek reboot ?
As a well know activist for gay rights, he's not happy about Sulu as a gay character.
In my opinion it shouldn't matter these days, it's not the 1950s.
From what I read Takei complaint was because Roddenberry did not write Sulu as gay in the original series, which technically would still be the case as the reboot is a alternate reality/timeline.

True, I just think it would be a huge step to have an all action hero type
Gay character, which might help other people in less enlightened parts
    Of the world.
The original series, also pushed boundaries with the first television
Interracial kiss etc, so it could infact be in the spirit of Roddenberry.

When I think about it I can't think of any, Game of Thrones is one show that pushes diversity.
