Agree 100% and the build up with the external shots also works well. Can you imagine if the whole movie had kept that quality/tone? There is real tension in that scene, so lacking within the rest of the film IMHO
I've always liked the scene with the mouse in l'american, also the hoffner bar scene particularly when bond tells the security man to stay, Bond saluting at hinx in the plane, the scene with tanner and q when they are laughing at q's db5 quip and stop when bond cuts them an icy glare, the scene outside the villa when bond shoots the 2 hit men, and I like the scenes in bonds flat, purely because it's quite flemingesque seeing some of Bonds personal space and a glimpse at his life.
