Romance in the franchise

How do you guys feel when romance is incorporated into the Bond films?

While i do love the romance genre I think with Bond is better to keep it subtle like Just feeling a connection with the Bond girl and maybe being more sweet towards her in a few moments but plain obvious love stories is better to keep them to minimum.

The Madeline, Kara and Pam were a little too much especially Madeline but Bond should never be monogamous unless the Bond novels would have reauired so like Casino Royale and On Her Majesty's secret service.

I like Bond being gentle with the ladies and all going ohh James for him but straight i love you shouldn't be for Bond.
The wierdest thing for me is that i do love the Romance/action genre as well but in Bond i feel it takes off some of the magic of the character.

    The funny thing about Bond is that he's a bit of a closet romantic, it's one of the many contradictions about him I enjoy about him. Actually in most of the books Bond is a wone woman man, this is pointed out b y Dalton on press tours when hounded about AIDS and whatnot for promotion of TLD. I think every once and a while its good to have a slightly more serious romance, like Kara, Tiffany Case in the books, Birtney Birthday etc but for most of them Bond is not heavily invested, it's a good variety to have to take it on the chin and no one really knows what we have.

    I think romance was fine in OHMSS and Casino Royale. I think - at the time - it was a nice change of pace for The Living Daylights (he'd been with a plethora of women in A View To A Kill). I don't believe the Pam Bouvier one was a romance per se (he slept with Lupe). But I don't like to see it too often. So TLD works because there is no other romance style relationship in the Moore or Brosnan's surrounding the Dalton era. Whereas I thought it was a misstep to have Bond in a deeper relationship once again in Spectre so soon after Casino Royale. Especially with the forced continuity of the Craig era.

    I agree it was too soon to Craig Bond him fall in love again in Spectre and i did fell happened just the same with Dalton I think he had two love stories back to back so he got it way sooner than Craig hehe

    while he never said i love you I think he did love Pam. he jumped to the pool for her and the ending was very chick flick style very typical of a romantic comedy where someone is about to leave and other one says wait he explains something and then kiss passionately.

    That makeout scene wasn't like the ones with Brosnan or Moore who finished in a love scene because Bond slept with any beautiful woman in his way in the Dalton flicks I felt a true romantic connection with his two main ladies.

    Brosnan had a deeper connection with Elektra or that's what he thought: like Barbara Broccoli said poor Bond he thought he found tracy when he actually went to find Blofeld but at the end he quickly got over it sleeping with Christmas Jones. Paris was another one we thought he loved but it lasted 5 seconds when he teamed up with Way lin.

    The closest Pierce got to really fall in love was with Natalya and i still have my reservations with her.

    Yes, it is appropriate for Bond to be monogamous in TLD given that he beds Kimberley, May Day, Pola Ivanova AND Stacey. Dear oh dear.

    And besides Dalton's Bond and Kara had the best chemistry.
