His wife had died, his house had burned down, he was out of money and had taken his alcohol consumption to another level.
I completely agree. Amazing group of highly charismatic secondary characters who all shine in their limited time on screen. OP gives me the same feeling, but to a far lesser degree.
You could be right, and I intend to move it up in my ranking when I next do one. I just viewed it about a month ago and had a blast.
I love JW. Anytime someone asks me something and my response is negative I like to say "Hay-yell NO"
My girlfriend just gave me an early Christmas gift:
The James Bond Blu ray 24 film set. Many of these I haven't seen on Blu -ray..........so Im starting with
THE SPY WHO LOVED ME
Let's see how this looks.................
Gunbarrel
DAMN!!! Looking good on blu.
Everyone has the same coffee.
I have to say, though TSWLM is a hard one to mess up in terms of color timing.
With the exception of the 1992 VHS remastered edition, Most versions looks reasonably close to the cinematic colors.
Often my number 2 spot.
They did a nice job on that one as well. The only Bond film I haven't seen in the theater.
I miss General Gogol. He was a great regular character in the Moore era.
I love catching the early ones on the rare occasion they get played. Fun to see the old UA logos.
I saw OHMSS back in '09 on a relatively small screen, but okay print. There were some scratches, but the colors looked good.
I remember the Egypt scenes vividly from those airings. The shot of Sandor dead on the cobblestone road stands out.
I love Anya here and her reactions to Bond's needling her.
Beautiful Hamlisch score here.
The FYEO nod is my favorite. As a kid I counted all the times Roger did that and TMWTGG seemed to be the only film lacking in that Moore-ism.
That's why TMWTGG is his worst!
At least he does a mock bow at the dojo.
That's right! In OP we get it twice: to the guards on the back of the truck-really more of a smirk, then to Kamal after Magda gives him the egg.
When does he do it in LALD, again?
For AVTAK, is it his response to Mayday redirecting him at the party? That one's hilarious as well. Probably my next favourite.
In LALD he does it to Tee-hee on the train. "Mr Bond It's good to see you again"
Yeah, in AVTAK it's to Mayday at the party. That's a great one.
He also does it on top of the firetruck as a response after he sees the two cars stuck together.
I love it. I must say the supertanker is my favorite Ken Adam set.
Ah, right. And in MR it's to Jaws on top of the cable cars?
Right. A classic Roger-ism. Sometimes it seems more of a smirk. Like later in TSWLM to Jaws when egging him on to smile before releasing the magnet on him. I feel like there's another one somewhere.......
The full-blown smile he gives Jaws when they first meet face-to-face in MR is quite funny.
He kind of does the head tilt when he says "Play it again San" in MR. He also does something of the sort in the bobsled track in FYEO, complete with a salute.
