It's so highly entertaining and then it's Connery.

For me a lot is nostalgia from when I was a kid. Watched this one a lot back then

I do see why many don't like it though. IMO the same reasons can apply to QoS for example

I'm amazed again, how very entertaining the Bond films are in general. No wonder they are successful since 55 years.

was it a one film deal with Connery?

Kevin McClory could only get one film made with his THUNDERBALL rights- and even that took nearly a decade to accomplish. In the 90's he tried again, but Eon sued and obtained all the rights to Bond

McClory had a 10 year clause in his contract that after TB he had to wait a decade before exercising his rights to do another Bond. Cubby kept preventing his "Warhead" film from being made.

Jack Schwartzman stepped in as a lawyer and was able to get it legally safe to do it, but so many element couldn't be used: Bond theme, gunbarrel, and only the character from the TB novel as well or the original scripts

I see. So we are lucky we got NSNA at all.

The production itself was kind of a nightmare for Sean in that Jack Schwartzman wasn't so much a producer but lawyer and was constantly in the courts

yeah. the 1976 WARHEAD version had mechanical sharks and a battle at the Statue of Liberty, however when Schwartzman got the go ahead, it couldn't deviate too far from the Thunderball film and novel.......at the same time it couldn't be too much like the TB film either. Very complicated.

Well I'm just glad it got made. Sean looks in NSNA like he had great fun doing it.

Sean's wife suggested he consider returning to the role, as he initially was brought in as a consultant. She also came up with the NSNA title.

He had quite a lot of say in the production and ended up helping out in almost everything. He even chose the composer.

Well that was fun. We'll have to plan another Bond viewing here soon. I'm starting a new job in a week-so I may have some time later this week,

I would never dare to criticize Barry but his AVTAK score as brilliant as it is was a bit samey to OP.

I'm game for really any film. The ones I haven't seen twice yet would be:
LALD, TLD, GE, TND, SF and SP. And CR67 naturally.

Been awhile since I've seen LALD all the way through. Same with GE.
