    Bond is straining.

The parts that work for me in this film are the comedic bits primarily, so the end sequences become a bit of a chore to get through, as they do nothing really groundbreaking and the humorous parts are over (until Nigel returns at the end)

I've grown to like this ending as low key as it is.
    I'll take it over SP's 3rd act.

I really enjoy this finale every time.

I’m also not a fan of this climax. Feels quite flat to me.

    The climax isn't overly long.

That’s a low bar but I probably agree.

I do like we get a bit of an old school battle here. Something that hasn't been done in ages.

Leiter whipping out that incendiary-flash grenade launcher, whatever it is. Seems to do the job quite nicely.

Great to see Felix get in on the action in this one. In Fleming's novel he is involved in the undersea battle, hook hand and all (at that point Fleming had begun ignoring the artificial leg altogether).

True. Felix is pretty happy go lucky in spite of his missing limbs.

I think the music here isn't too bad actually.

Yes, beginning with the Brosnan films, following the likes of RAMBO and DIE HARD, we get Bond vs an army, rather than Bond "Commanding" a squadron or team of soldiers. Still problem with the Craig films.

The undersea battle in TB is much more intense and well choreographed.

The underwater battle in TB is epic.

Why is the US Navy allowing Domino to lead their rescue team for Bond?

Good use of NSNA theme again. Classic 80s

    Easy listening AM radio. 1983.

I call this the third time that Bond has broken the fourth was. I know some disagree, but I count his recognizing of the Bond theme in OP as such a decision. The fourth would be Pierce in TND, though I've gone back and forth on that one.

When does Pierce do it in TND?

Nigel learned to use that natural cover.

Oof, that title song kicking in is horrid.

Imagine if Craig’s last film ended like that but with Madeleine! XD

And a classic wink to say goodbye once and for all to Connery's Bond. A flawed but fun romp for sure.

    That was great!

Rory Kinnear getting pushed into a pool when going to retrieve Bond :))

There's something about these schmaltzy 80s themes that are so damn cheesy that make me adore them to no end.

If I ranked it with the EON films, it would fall very low, but probably at least edge out DAD and DAF. It’s very rough around the edges, but Connery is a joy to watch and there is some fun stuff in it.

It has its moments I don't care for and issues, as all films do, but overall I enjoy myself with it every time.

Personally I wish that they had continued this alternate continuity for a couple of more films. The bugs would probably have been smoothed out.

The first announced sequel was actually called SPECTRE.

His "They'll print anything nowadays." seems to be addressing an unseen audience (he is alone) and then, for the briefest moment, he look into the camera.

    Ah.

:)) Could you imagine if that ever happened...

Fun fact, I met George Lazenby a few years back and he told me a story of meeting McClory in Germany to discuss being potentially in a TB remake. This was in the late 70s at the time, but they didn't get on very well. George said that Kevin accused him of hitting on his gf at the time during their meeting at dinner.

It would rank last for me with the EON films, but still some very fun parts and a couple of key good additions with the like of Bernie Casey and Barbera Carerra among others.

    Wow! Very cool story. Interesting.
I think it might have been cool had George starred in McClory Bond film at some point.
Maybe during the Dalton era. He still looked good.
