GE's equivalent to LALD's boat chase. Holds up marvelously, IMO.
I was pretty immersed in this outing and wasn't even remotely disappointed when I saw it the first time.
Here we go- the death of Xenia. Bond takes quite a beating here.
The satellite dish climax is solid. I always liked it. I've grown to appreciate TND's
stealth boat finale more over the years, but to be honest this is the last Bond film to date with an ending I like. Of the Craig era I suppose SF's ending is alright but the rest are about as limp as NSNA's finale for me.
I like Peter Lamont's set for the dish interior.
Natalya thrashes Boris.
Bond in his green tactical attire looks quite dashing when compared to Boris' outfit.
As dorky as he looks, Boris must have done something right. Even 24 years later I see more people in the streets dressed like Boris than like Bond. Kind of sad.
Brosnan has some great facial expressions.
I know you dream a lot
Holding on to lies
And you wait around
For someone to know where you hide
In your dreams, you feel a lot
But you keep it all inside
And you close your eyes
It helps keep you alive
But the experience of loving
Won't take all the pain away
Just understanding for the first time
What you feel inside, love is in your life
(The experience of love, first time)
And having come this far
Cherishing your dreams
You have realized now
How they help keep you alone
And the experience of loving
Won't take all the pain away
Just understanding for the first time
What you feel inside, love is in your life
Breathing in the scent of love
(Leave the dreams behind)
Sensing life in everything under the sky
And the experience of loving
Won't take all the pain away
Just understanding for the first time
What you feel inside, love is in your life
Searching forever
(The experience of love, under the sky)
Won't take all the pain away
For the first time
(Under the sky)
Love is in your life
(The experience of love)
Take it below, feel the flow
Hold it close, don't let it go
(The experience of love, under the sky)
It won't take all the pain away
(The experience of love)
For the first time
(Under the sky)
When love is in your life
(The experience of love)
For the first time
(Under the sky)
Searching forever
(The experience of love)
For the first time
(Under the sky)
That really hit the spot.
Thanks, @MooseWithFleas.
That song is pretty amusing. I believe Serra wrote it for LEON-THE PROFESSIONAL. Probably would have suited that film better than Bond.
I like some of the less popular/known Bond tunes: "Make it Last All Night", "Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown", this one, and especially "Dirty Love".
Man...'dirty love' and 'make it last all night' are so awful they're enjoyable. Both make me smile when they appear in the film. 'Do you know how Christmas trees are grown' is a real outlier and always breaks the flow when I'm listening to the otherwise majestic OHMSS soundtrack.
Christmas Trees always sounded very odd on the soundtrack to me. Out of place, really. But I like as a Christmas tune in itself. I never hear it played during the holidays, though.
That casual, indifferent look up from Largo when the spectr agent is electrocuted is one of my favourite low key Bond villain moments ever.
Moneypenny still has the banter with Connery's Bond.really enjoy the way she laughs when Bond threatens to put her over his knee.
The music when Bond is searching Lippe's room really makes the scene.
Patricia Fearing is very similar to how she is described in the book. And a lot of dialogue is carried over from Fleming.
Damn - Fiona Volpe's introduction. So good. What a great close up shot, upside down and then swings around when she gets the code word of 'mr Angelo' . A real gift of a design from Young. Paluzzi's close ups are radiant. Do miss her a little in the novel. Although Fleming's story is fairly tightly plotted as it is.
However, that dreamy, watery soundtrack when his body is snuck back into Shrublands and bond is sneaking around is wonderful.
Now that we're all here!
The meeting room for the briefing is magnificent. Interesting to see the visual make up of some of the double Os.
I like martine beswicks outfit when her and pinder meet bond in the street. Pink headband and crop top. Just before Q appears to scold 007 immediately.
Bonds timing of walking from the beach and running into Volpe is quite fortunate!
No, some men just don't like being taken for a ride.
"Do you like wild things mr bond, Janes bond?"
Paluzzi's delivery is charming. Good chemistry with Connery,
