    I shouldn't credit Lowery with the DTS audios changes in this film. I'm pretty sure they were present in the 1992 digitally re-mastered VHS tapes.

    I actually think Norman Burton and Connery have decent Felix/ Bond chemistry.
    He used to be my least favorite Leiter, but now I don't think he's so bad.
    My late girlfriend loved Sid Haig. Great actor.
    This was actually the first Bond film I watched with her.

    I love this section of the film. Bond cremated is classic.

    There was a deleted scene in which Wint or Kidd pull a trick handgun on Shady Tree while in his dressing room. A red flag flicks out from the suppressor and the flag reads, 'BANG you're dead'. Tree is then shot with the same weapon. This scene presumably leads on from their thoughts that the duo had "a few suggestions" for his act.

    Always enjoyed the oil rig climax. Not as iconic as the volcano, but still pretty good, IMO.

    So I've been slowly accumulating the old 2000 SE DVD copies of the Bonds to compare with the Lowery transfers that have been the standard for the past 15 years.

    Here's

    GOLDFINGER.

    Right off the gunbarrel is off center and slightly raised.
    The gold throughout titles have a slightly darker hue than the Blu-ray.
    I don't know how many members here remember the VHS editions that came out around the time of GOLDENEYE, but this to me resembles those transfers, only on DVD.
    Brings back memories on what the Bonds looked like on home video in the '90's.
    Sharp and bright.
    I found an old DVD/video gaming shop that had some of these old Bonds. I also picked up AVTAK and will be reviewing that transfer later. There were a few more, I may go back and pick up.
    This looks like a straight transfer film to DVD with no clean up. Quite a bit of grain in the establishing shot of London.

    I love the Q scene. So classic and iconic. Desmond looks great in this one.

    The golf scene looks a bit different, not nearly as clean as the Blu-ray.
    With the new 4K transfers and the Blu-rays I think we've been spoiled over the years.
    I remember when the films were re-issued on VHS in around 1988/89 at "affordable" prices. I thought some of the transfers on the MGM/UA Home Video label were a huge improvement over the CBS/Fox versions, especially since several had the titles in scope.
    A few of the films were disappointing on the new tapes: LALD in particular looked dull to me.

    I love the scenery during this section of the film.
    Tilly in an underrated Bond girl, IMO.
    Bond leaves her stranded at the gas station.

    I took a job recently where I'm working with laser beam machines. The place kind of looks like a Bond set......well, maybe a NSNA Bond set. :)

    Bond gets castrated and the film and series ends here.

    Pussy Galore remains one of my favorite Bond girls.
    One of the things I love about this transfer is the model plane wires are intact. Just as seen in the cinemas. Lowery removed the wires in 2006.
    Here they are plain as day.

    Bond's been sitting on his arse too long. He should have been able to subdue that guard with one blow like he could years later in NSNA. I like that this guard puts up a bit of a fight, though. He's no Red Grant, but I'll give him an A for effort.

    Bond's plan backfired. I also love his expression when he sees that Solo has been crushed. I like when things don't work out so smoothly for Bond and he has to come up with something else.

    This is one title I think Lowery improved upon, though I'd prefer no tampering with visible flaws that were already in the film.
