He clearly did not have the same acting experience as any of the other Bonds and basically read like a toddler in floaties who got transferred into an Olympic pool alongside Michael Phelps in his first scene with Gabriele Ferzetti (might chalk that one up to Hunt for not recognizing and doing something about the clear imbalance), but Lazenby did have a great physicality and somehow exuded an unfathomable confidence in most every other shot. It was as if he had never even heard the name Sean Connery before. I think mustering and exhibiting such confidence throughout truly was Lazenby's greatest achievement and his saving grace in the part.
Totally agree he had a self confidence that carried him through the entire process and the film benefited from greatly.
