You Only Live Twice looks stunning above anything else and as much as I love and value Adam's work, it wasn't needed or is the most impressive aspect of this film, in my opinion.

I am looking more at actors/actresses and scenes or moments that stick out.

Luciana Paluzzi, for creating the best female fatale ever and paving the way for many other actors to come.

Ken Adam AND John Barry for YOLT. This film gets by on visuals and sounds alone!

I agree. In that regard there's very little that impresses me. Even Connery is not on top form.

That fight scene on the train between Bond and Grant. That was almost two minutes long and full of excitement and violence. One of the great all time fights in cinematic history.
  • 11/10 for Lewis Gilbert because his direction was flawless in You only live twice. 11/10 for John Barry too, no explanation, you only have to listen.

Once again, there's little doubt for me that Barry is the ultimate genius of the film. His score propels the action like a raging storm, turning this film into an adventure that even today hasn't lost a single bit of excitement.

So far (with thanks to @samuel for the idea):

    1. Terence Young
    2. Sean Connery
    3. John Barry
    4. Peter Hunt
    5. Ken Adam
    6. John Barry

    John Barry.
  • I thought Rigg did a very good job, one of the most memorable Bond girls

Director Hunt put together a fun and intriguing picture

    The Barry soundtrack

Savalas as Blofeld was a standout character

Hunt put together one of the best Bond films ever. I respect the man for that. It had to make a tough choice. Maybe Barry's recent passing away slightly pushed the balance in his favour.
  • Just going back and I didn't even give a thought to it that Mr Barry was recently deceased, I gave him the vote merely on the basis that he put together a very fine instrumental for the credits, the best non vocal Bond intro bar none, although there is only this and From Russia With Love to choose from, not sure about Doctor No, half vocals, half instrumental etc
