In addition to building a positively killer '70s sound for the film, Martin convinced Saltzman to let Paul McCartney perform the title song (it was already written and a demo was recorded—Martin's orchestration of the demo was what got him the gig, but Saltzman wanted a black soul performer for all the obvious reasons).
that whole movie looked so rushed and lackadaisal. The matte explosions, the performances, save for the elevator fight the movie was pretty bad.
