    From what I heard, Pemberton's score is not heavy on theme but still brings a very thrilling, original and cool 60 spy vibe score to the film.

    Pemberton's score for "The Counselor" in my opinion was magnificent. There are so many nuanced harmonies in his tracks. And they reflect a certain mood or atmosphere perfectly, together with a strong cultural vibe. And every track has strong build-ups:

    I'm astonished. And I slightly expected my astonishment ;-).

    I already love tracks 3 (His Name Is Napoleon Solo), 11 (Signori Toileto Italiano), 15 (Into The Lair), 16 (Laced Drinks), 19 (The Drums Of War), 22 (A Last Drink), 24 (The Unfinished Kiss), 25 (The Red Mist) & 27 (Warhead).

    It's very 1960's retro, lots of Barry-esque influences. But most importantly, Daniel Pemberton uses in his orchestration a lot of famous instruments from the 1960's: xylophones, russian klavecimbel's, snare drums, german flutes. and yes, finger snips too 　.

    It also has a slightly western-flavour to it, reminiscent of Ennio Morricone. I think this could surprise at the Oscars next year....

    I'm trying to find a bad review from the test audiences but this what I keep coming up with: The tweets and comments from the recent UNCLE screenings run something like this: Perfect blend of comedy, action and romance! Loved it........ Classic!............Make sure yall catch the new sexy stylish action flick MFU, it's going to be one for the books..................Henry Cavill is amazing as Napoleon Solo, Entire cast is perfect, soundtrack is A+............. I highly recommend it...........Loved the cast, the story, the 60's fashion, Definitely a must see!........AND MORE:...........A MUST see!.............With a lot of action. Great actors and plot, Maybe a second part??? Would love it!............LOVE THIS FILM!, Hoping for more in the franchise to come! Awesome!..................Saw MFU yesterday. I love how Guy continues to evolve as a filmmaker.     Bloody amazing score!

    Sounds like an amalgam of Barry's The Ipcress File & From Russia With Love. The jazz influences are quite clear.

    Pemberton is my new favourite for Bond. EON better start making calls now.

    It's quite amazing really. Henry Jackman earlier this year had a magnificent spy-score for "Kingsman". Lots of people said it's reminiscent of John Barry.

    Then Theodore Shapiro had a pretty nice score for "Spy". He composed the wonderful title song 'Who Can You Trust'.

    Joe Kraemer's spy-score for "Rogue Nation" sounds more 'grown-up' as compared to Michael Giacchino. I really like it.

    But I think Daniel Pemberton really IS the new 'John Barry'. Just read my review above of the "UNCLE"-score. He creates these magnificent arrangements/melodies that James Bond 007 needs.

    I trust Thomas Newman will give us a magnificent score for "SPECTRE". But sjee, the competition within the soundtracks of spy movies this year is pretty damn stiff!

    I agree. UNCLE sounds very fresh and yet evokes the past. Excellent melodies can be heard, and it sounds (from these brief clips) that the compositions will be engaging.

    I agree on Kingsman too. For me, Jackman's work there and apparently Pemberton's work on Uncle could be the standouts for me. Kraemer's MI sounds a little more traditional, but I'll report back once I've watched the film either this weekend or early next week.

    Newman definitely has his work cut out for him. He has the privilege of scoring the big daddy in a highly competitive year and has to nail it. When the going gets tough.......as they say.

    Just read it. I'm looking so so sooo much forward to hear the full score for this film. Daniel Pemberton should be considered doing a Bond film, because he has such a good vision for this film and he openly distances his score from the Bond films.

    I just hope he stays with the UNCLE films, regardless whether he ever does 007. Personally I'd like to see him stay away from Bond and give UNCLE it's own unique sound like Barry did for 007.
