If not, how can we expect the producer of such totally different films as TLD, MR, FRWL, AVTAK, OHMSS, ... to pick from such totally different films as TND, GE, CR, DAD, ...? I got nothing on this. We can't even speculate, now can we?
I would have to say GoldenEye, just for the simple fact that I'm unsure if he would even have hired Craig in the first place.
GE, SF, SP and CR probably come closest to FRWL.
I guess TND and DAD are close enough to TSWLM.
TWINE and QOS are tougher.
Incidentally, I believe Broccoli might have hired Craig after all. Dalton wasn't exactly a playing-by-the-book decision either and Cubby was quite fond of him.
As part of his savvy marketing for the release of each Bond film Cubby always said (if asked by an interviewer) that his favourite Bond film was the current one, even AVTAK.
;)
So, on that basis, I'd say his favourite is Spectre.*
*He is dead now, mind.
I strongly believe films like DAD, CR, QOS and SF would never have happened the way they did, had Cubby been a decade younger and had lived a long, long life, being in control of the series.
Cubby would have loved TND, TWINE, SP
DAD: Cubby would have toned down on the OTT Sci-Fi stuff, but I still think it would have been only slightly different.
Brosnan would have been Bond at least until 2008, or 2012.
Cubby was a gentleman and a fair business men and would NEVER have treated Brosnan like shit, as BB did.
CR: It would have been more or less the same, but without abandoning what Cubby loved so much like the proper Gunbarrel, M, MP
QOS: this movie simply wouldn't exist, there would be something completely different
SF: this movie would have a story that actually makes sense, maybe with the same characters but an established MP, Q.
It's a shame his daughter has so little respect for some of the things that defined Bond. Lately I also think, she might do the franchise in one of these days.
I didn't say he would have loathed it. Not at all. I think the would like the film enough as it is, but the story would be different, more Bondian with a clear plot (villain with some sinister "world domination" plan), Silva's backstory may have been only a small part to define the character.
I also think he would have liked Daniel Craig, but he'd never been Bond anyway if Cubby lived.
SP has a clear plot with a clear goal that the villain is aiming at.
There are no major plot holes. And the few there are don't matter as it is a film not taking itself very seriously, like it is the normal case for a Bond film.
SF on the other hand made the grave mistake to dispose of all the fun and take itself way too seriously, the many plot holes, about all concerning Silva, is just unbelievably lazy writing, if not downright stupid.
One thing is for sure, SP would have been like it is, but Blofeld would have been Blofeld without the awkward foster-brother thing.
SP is exactly the kind of film, Cubby would love to bits. Pure Bond, pure fun, pure entertainment with daring original stunt work to just name a few examples.
Also Cubby vetoed Barbara and Michael Wilson when they wanted to cast Sam Neill. So, Craig would likewise be a no!!!

The above link tells you what Cubby thought of Ranulph Fiennes, so I shall leave it to the imagination what he would think of Craig.
Cubby wanted Dalton ahead of Brosnan in '86 and it was the studio that were pushing for Brosnan for GoldenEye, Cubby wanted Dalton to continue.
Agreed. If we're talking about Cubby just retiring and sitting back and watching all the same things occur then SF would be his favourite especially with Adele winning an Oscar and the 50th but I also think he'd get a real kick out of CR's critical reception. He probably hadn't seen love like that from critics since the 60s. And the revitalisation of the Bond franchise.
That is true. Dalton was approached first, but, turned down the role due to Brenda Starr. Brosnan was then approached and almost cast, but lost the role due to the Rimington Steele series being extended.
Cubby was honourable and did not let Dalton go so easily. When Cubby was ill, Dalton visited him constantly, so they were close.
But, once Dalton felt that committing to four more films was too much, then Brosnan was approached.
What I meant about Dalton and Brosnan, is that for Cubby, they were perfect from the standpoint of look Cubby wanted for Bond.
Disagree. Cubby approved of Brosnan for the casting in Goldeneye. Simple facts dictate that with Cubby around, there would be no Craig. And Goldeneye was very well critically received.
I cannot imagine Cubby being thrilled with Craig's hairstyle choice in SF. Looked more suited to a villain in Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds!
He wasn't thrilled with Roger Moore to begin with.
But, Moore had the English gentleman look which Broccoli liked. And Moore was huge as The Saint.
Exactly - he was won round to Moore.
For LALD, Guy Hamilton wanted Burt Reynolds. Cubby said no. He wanted Bond to be six feet tall. Craig would not have been considered.
Moore was not a hard sell for Broccoli and a safe choice. You need to read Broccoli's autobiography.
I've read his autobiography, and I in no way disagree with you that Moore wasn't a hard sell for Broccoli only that he was intially sceptical. Specualting about whether Cubby would or would not have gone with Craig is pointless. Wilson and Campbell wanted Henry Cavill, but BB got her man. That's what happened and that's what matters. Incidentally Peter Lamont was also against Cavill and pro-Craig.
If Broccoli vetoed Sam Neill's casting in 1986, despite everyone else in favour, there is no way he would be more generous to Craig.
There is no speculation knowing Broccoli's preferences. I find the revisionism of Broccoli's tastes laughable. You may as well tell me Quentin Tarantino prefers Craig over Brosnan.
Maybe so. You seem to be taking this all a little bit personally really, I haven't disagreed with you at all, don't really see where this angst is coming from. Take it easy.
Nothing personal. I am not angry, but arguing based on established facts. Cubby is a very well documented man.
As for speculation, I did not create the thread.
Absolutely Tarantino.
:))
I disagree with a good bit of this, but to avoid yet another repeat of why I don't care for either film, I'll just leave it at that. I'm still under the impression he would've enjoyed SF leagues more than what SP had to offer.
