Bond in his original environment?

Why do you think the producers never considered adapting a Bond novel to its original setting? For example, for the reboot in Casino Royale, did they ever thought about a true to the novel adaption, like actually setting it in the 1950's but keeping the characters the same? Part of the reasons why Fleming's novels were so successful was because they closely replicated the issues that were headlined back in the day. Why exactly do you think we are constantly modernizing Bond?

    Because Fleming never wrote them as period pieces but as when they were released. The period piece only came lately and in my opinion Fleming would hate the idea of a period piece.
