Sorry to hear about the shooting in the Netherlands. Here in the US, an actual congresscritter is threatening roughly half of his country with civil war and several trillion bullets. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/steve-king-civil-war-graphic_n_5c8ef5b9e4b03e83bdc25c86

Steve King loves this type of rhetoric then acts confused and shocked when people call him out for it.

    What happened in the Netherlands?

An imb...-person opened fire at a woman inside a tram in the city of Utrecht. When others rushed to help her he shot at them as well. He fled away in a red Renault Clio, on which allegedly there was a paper which had the word 'Allah' on it, or at least that's the rumour that's big enough to make it to the press.
The suspect has been apprehended as his image and name were swiftly circulated by police, something they only do when they expect someone to strike again.

It's due to this that media could find out more about him, like a street interview he gave in 2011 (source: https://www.geenstijl.nl/5146785/030-verdachte-gokmen-tanis-is-haatdemocraat/) . Apparently the guy was a drug addict and dealer (coke) who had just stood trial for rape. He comes from a very religious family.

Victims are 2 young women (one 19) and a father (no age mentioned) of two, who was also trainer at the local football club.

all in all, a fubar situation in which the police don't know which aspect is the main reason, his beeing rejected or jelous or whatever, or his 'religious' views. Or a combination of the two.

New twist: it WAS a terrorsit attack, they found no connection between the girl (19) and the killer. The other two vicitms are both men, a 49 y/o father of two and football coach and a 28 y/o man.
They also found a letter in which he says he acted on behalf of Allah. Both his brother and father are strict salafists.

The guy had had convictions for burglary, illigal possesion of weapons and rape (within the relation).

Neighbours now chime in that he Always was a psychopath.

Did Erdogan already take credit? The guy was Turkish after all and I understand he's using the NZ attack for political purposes......

Well, maybe yes and maybe no. News reports are still saying the motive was unclear, but that the guy has always been several different types of trouble. Drugs, rape, various incidents of violent crime in the guy's history. Why are some people so insistent that it HAD TO BE terrorism, dammit, when the police on the scene are still saying that the motive is unclear?

I'm just stating the police reports, not the media ones. Anyway, in this country media aren't usually as outspoken as in yours (they're still selective though, don't worry). So the statement of it beeing a most likely terrorist act comes from the police, but as per usual they say so with some restraint.

The media report he was also a drug user/ dealer, but the police didn't, so I left that out.

The Mueller report on Russia is finally turned in:

    Oh goody. :) Thanks, @Creasy47.
So we will have this part "finished" per se, but it is just the beginning of prosecutions really. The State investigations and prosecutions will continue for many months/years, and the House is now doing more thorough investigations (broader scope than Mueller's; they can hit everything important, ferret out all kinds of corruption), and many things will come to light. Good news indeed. Indictments will keep coming, from various sources. It does show that progress is being made and this is rather the tip of the iceberg.

I am certain that whatever Mueller has produced is valuable. All the work so far, that we have seen, including guilty pleas and convictions, has been worthwhile. We have to uphold the Constitution and our laws above any party, any person. I really appreciate Mueller's dedication and professionalism.

AG Barr will decide what to give to Congress. So get ready for that tug of war. I do think this will all come out, though. I'm glad Rosenstein is still involved. Thankful the majority of the House is now Democrat or it would be kept secret.

Here's my final post for some time, I think.
We will be in for a somewhat bumpy ride, but it will all come out in the months ahead.
Good news indeed. White House will spin this as ... "no collusion!" ;) But this is so much more, of course.

Mueller may have no future indictments, but other investigations may have them ready, sealed. We don't know, but I'm not worried due to Mueller's thoroughness. States can indict, you know, just saying ... thanks to Mueller, this is all ongoing and in process. He has material to back up everything and has given plenty to the ongoing outside investigations already. Cheers!

This last link has good succinct info on each ongoing investigation listed here.
  • I'm particularly amused by the recent revelations that Jared & Ivanka are using public email servers for official government business. Of course, we know that Jared shouldn't have received the level of clearance for secret information that Donnie insisted he be given, but still... when are the crowds going to start chanting "lock them up! Lock them up!"?

It's quite clear that nothing came out of this Mueller investigation, as focus has already shifted to other future investigations. Based on discussions from pages back, it was believed that Trump would be forced out by this. That chatter seems to have been put to bed now thankfully.

But no indictment, no obstruction and NO COLLUSION. After the amount of hype this probe has had for the past 2 years, this is a big win for Trump!

Nice when the MSM elite are left high and dry. Maybe they can focus on reporting the news now, and not inventing it. This is definitely one conspiracy we can put to bed.

  • Sleep well...be sure to wake up when Trump snaps his fingers...

As for the conspiracy and the obstruction of justice, it's been out there in plain sight. Just because Donnie stamps his feet and repeats "Nocollusionnocollusionnocollusion!" until his face turns blue doesn't mean that anybody other than the hypnotized believe him.

Yes, hypnotized by the findings of an independant investigation!

An independent investigation that concluded there was NO EVIDENCE of collusion between Trump and the Kremlin to influence the election.

But yes, because some clown on a movie message board believes the evidence is "out there in plain sight," we've all been hypnotized.

Can't wait for the next kernel of wisdom from Beatles.

Gosh, the whole investigation has all been MY DOING? I think you overstate things Escalus. As usual.

Per this news item (from last year) Trump openly asked Russia to interfere in the election on nationwide TV. Per Muller's indictment of Russian operatives, Russia performed as requested. Is that collusion in plain sight enough for you? Just because you want to ignore the evidence that's in front of your eyes, don't believe that the rest of us are going to follow suit.

  • BTW: Let us also remember that what we are all reacting to is Attorney General Barr's summary of Mueller's report. That is to say, the spin that a Trump hireling put onto the Mueller report. When the full report is released, and I do expect that it will be, we'll see how the spinmeisters react at that point. In the meanwhile, as I noted earlier: the witch hunt is dead, long live the witch hunt. It ain't over just because you and your orange overlord want it to be.

Great piece from Jonathan Cook about the report:

"Three Lessons for the Left from the Mueller Inquiry"

    https://www.counterpunch.org/2019/03/25/three-lessons-for-the-left-from-the-mueller-inquiry/

What Mueller found – all he was ever going to find – was marginal corruption in the Trump camp. And that was inevitable because Washington is mired in corruption. In fact, what Mueller revealed was the most exceptional forms of corruption among Trump’s team while obscuring the run-of-the-mill stuff that would have served as a reminder of the endemic corruption infecting the Democratic leadership too.
  • "Marginal corruption" like his campaign manager being an unregistered agent of a foreign power. Yeah, that's awfully marginal... and exactly the sort of thing that should send the Trumpanzees howling for their leader's head if they were actually paying attention to the results of the report rather than just parroting "No collusion! *Brawk!* No collusion!" everywhere they can.

Mueller had no input on the summation. The AG was picked by Trump based on his authoritarian ideas. Yes, this will all get obstructed & sidetracked, but once Trump is out, he'll be in a doodystorm of litigation.

Just the amount of times he attempted to stop or discredit an investigation that, in the end, stopped just short of exonerating him tells me that yes, he did have just as much to hide as he claimed he didn't.

If he was so damned innocent of his crimes, maybe work toward allowing the investigation to prove that rather than trying to attack it. Guess that's too stupid an idea, though.
