And on the eve of his wedding, to calm his nerves, Bond decided to write "the story to end all spy stories"....
Really looking forward to it, although I imagine it’s going to be a costly collection.
Happy birthday, enjoy your day. I enjoy reading your comments and opinions.
Happy Birthday! I see you've made it a good one with that purchase, always nice to treat oneself on a birthday though. I hope you enjoy it.
Nope, i have them all and i will gladly keep on buying.
Also, for anyone who was or is in doubt, Folio once more confirmed yesterday that they want to do the whole series:
I recently bought CR and I absolutely love it! I really want to get the full collection so will have to get a new one every month or two. It is difficult to justify the spending to my other half when I already own two different versions of the Fleming books in paperback.
That being said, these Folio editions look absolutely stunning on the shelf and I would argue are worth the money.
Thanks @TR007. I have the nice Penguin paperback set with the retro covers from 10+ yrs ago; along with some other paperback singles... glad to hear you think it's worth the money.
I honestly do think you will enjoy your purchase and get plenty out of it.
If they plan on doing all of them, it'd be a real shame to leave out the short stories.
I'm hoping and thinking they will. It's full of opportunities for great artwork. But I'm assuming they'll do it last along with OP & TLD. I'm curious to see when they do TSWLM.
I only ask because they did Thunderball first. Maybe, they mean all the novels.
Why would they not? But i think they will simply need a bit more time for FYEO and OP, because they will probably need more illustrations for those. Each short story should at least have 2 illustrations in my opinion.
That said, I'm sure I will be collecting them all to have. I doubt there will be nicer hardcover editions anytime soon and everything I have now is paperback.
If I lived in England, I would go to estate sales on a regular basis with one hope in mind, finding first edition Fleming.
The Pussy is very annoyed that they have skipped FYEO. Hopefully we will not all be screwed with an incomplete collection !
In what way, @DoctorNo? Is the thickness of the pages too thin? That's what I like most with my favourite hardcover books; that the pages have a bit thickness and grain to them.
Have yet to order a Folio Edition book, but will eventually.
I should reiterate, I love the illustrations. That, and to have nice hardbacks, is why I’m getting all these... But, I do feel quality-wise, these are $30 maybe $40 value... for $60+, i was expecting a little more.
I agree with @PussyNoMore, they better do FYEO! I also would love an Octopussy to include some of the previously unpublished material, Russian Roulette, Murder on Wheels, etc.
That's a shame. Collecting these wont be cheap, so you'd expect everything about them to be of top quality.
I think I'll wait for special deals before ordering any of the books myself. It will be difficult justifying stretching to the current prices if they leave something to be desired quality wise.
99,9% sure it will be first week of October.
Folio has always had the same release dates, first week of october has been the most consistent one for Bond releases. We have been getting a Folio release each October since 2015.
And since they always release on a wednesday, you can be sure it will be either the 2nd, or the 9th.
I'm leaning towards 2nd. In which case we get the announcement one week prior, on the 25th September.
