How about an animal threat? Considering where Bond is headed, it could be a great opportunity to have him take on the giant squid. Not with CGI though, thanks. Puppets and animatronics.

"Not with CGI" is key, I want to feel the danger on the screen. CGI animals and any sense of danger or excitement is immediately thrown to the wind for me.

You mean a classic standalone straightforward mission dealing with world domination, cheesy gadgets, with no personal issues/connections at all?

After 15 years of DC, you should know it's never goin to happen anytime soon.

    If
    Jamaica is a location
then I'd like to see some underwater action in Bond 25.

Craig has yet to be seen in scuba gear, if we're not going to get any ski action from him, then at least let's get some underwater action. Perhaps.

One think I hope for in Bond 25 is a performance from Daniel closer to Casino Royale/Skyfall instead of what he did in Spectre.
His performance was a big part of what made those films great equally great whereas his performance in Spectre was part of what made that film not so great

A lot of people said never to a lot of things, just like people believed those "cheesy" gadgets would never return in the Craig era, yet we started stepping into that territory. One way or another, that will come back.

Nothing has been cheesier in the Bond franchise than the entirety of Silva acting like a cerebrally handicapped person, and the half-baked turnout of Blofeld and Bond being foster brothers (itself a parody of a plot point). But, I digress.

Getting back to a global threat, assault on the villain's lair, and other staples could be the plan all along. Seeing Casino Royale in 2006 I fully expected the eventual return of Q and Moneypenny, just a matter of time as they built things up and shifted focus.
  • I want to see Craig's Bond to have a non personal mission for once.

Not sure if I'm on a minority, but I do hope Bond can wear a double breasted suit once again in Bond 25, either a suit or the dinner jacket (Moore style). Last time we had one was the Monaco blazer from GoldenEye.

Double breasted dinner jacket is a great idea. Double breasted suit in M's office would be fine too.

I would also like a navy blazer to come back. Jamaica is the perfect place for a navy blazer worn with light coloured trousers sans tie. I think that's a great look for Craig.

I know @matt_u maybe after Daniel
  • Changed the thread title. Was thinking it should be more general really to save us the bother of updating it or creating a new thread every film.

But anyway, a wish I have that popped into my head today. The recent films have done a lot of deconstructing/critiqueing Bond, but this is always to do with his sexist attitudes/actions or the people he's killed. But there's another sort of old school conservative side of the character that's never really been called out in that way, and that's his snobbery. And I think that could be a cool angle to take in a future film. You could take the GE route and do it with a new M. He could be from a working class background and resent the idea of Bond eating up so much of the tax payer's money (bulletproof Aston Martin's, a seemingly unlimited expense account and a high enough salary to afford saville row suits and a posh chelsea flat), but like Dench's M comes to respect him in the end because he gets the job done. Or maybe you could have a villain who claims to be fighting for the less priviliged. A man who sees himself as a modern Robin Hood but who's measures are extreme enough for the audience to still root for Bond.

And my top choice for either of these roles would be Christopher Eccleston. I can't think of another actor as outspoken and proud about his working class background as him (reading his biography at the minute and it's brilliant) and it's a crime that he hasn't been in a Bond film already. He's one of our best actors and he's a fan. I bet he'd love to do it.
