But yeah, 2024, while off to a fine start with a few surprises in my opinion, has seen most of my more anticipated releases pushed to 2025, weakening the overall year.
Bad news, but if Chad Stahelski is going to help with action scenes, it might be worth waiting a year.
Sounds promising, major details of the film.
I was not overly keen on John Wick 3 though I had a lot of fun with the 4th film mainly because of the set pieces.
I'm sadly feeling the same way about the series. Loved the first, second is my favorite, third had a couple of issues but some great action, but sadly the fourth was very underwhelming to me and I've had almost no interest in revisiting it.
The Continental was fun but gets a little hokey at times and the action was never as great as the opening sequence was. I'm not overly excited for Ballerina and can't say I'm really optimistic about it but I'm sure I'll still watch it once it releases. Hopefully that first trailer blows me away.
The John Wick films are actually turning strictly into martial arts films.
A description of the trailer presented at CinemaCon has appeared online.

Oh, I'm waiting for this movie.

The second will most likely always be my favorite, but you're right, the first two really are the best. The fourth one felt more focused on inventive setpieces while losing sight of John as the central character. Very messy storytelling and too many characters for my taste.
Yes. Correct. Chapter 2 is my favorite too. It's so good, I didn't know when the film was over. That's how engaging the film was. I believe the catacombs gun fight influenced NTTD's action in Safin's lair.
Chapter 1 has some issues for me with pacing at times, but I'll always love it, especially my appreciation for how grounded and stripped back it is compared to later installments. That's why I adore the first two so much. The latter two start to get into impossible heroics territory that get a little ridiculous, and I miss having some rather simple gunfights and brawls by the time we get to the insanity that is Chapter 4.
Don't get me wrong, Chapter 4 is gorgeously shot and the choreography is still incredible, but it's almost "too much" for my liking, if that makes sense.
Regardless, I'm so happy his story will continue like I figured it would. My only question now: where in the hell are they going from here? I'm dying to know how they'll plausibly get him back into the game all over again.
3 and 4 are certainly over the top by comparison. The overall collection of characters and emotion of 4 put it far above 3 for me though, which is still a good movie but my clear choice for least good of the lot. I’m also wondering where they will go from here, and though I loved 4 I’d love a reset of sorts - a more “stripped back” approach again.
I'm sure the action will deliver while the narrative and backstory falter and underwhelm, but I'm in.
