They drink themselves unconcious because of the mess they live in, they have got a few folks who own a shedload and the rest just has nothing.
I really laughed hard about one of the tales out of the Cold war when it became known afterwards that one of the military airports in Siberia (or anyhow Polar based) could not fly their Migs because the ground crews had drunk the fuel which consisted largely of pure alcohol. This happened apparently every winter.

I did study at St. Martins college for a year, brilliant time a lovely city to live in.
If it begins with an S, I've been there in 1978.
Don't recall a lot of it, other than it was very flat, there was a tornado and I almost drowned.
That's the one Benny! Saskatoon! It's still flat, but it's grown a bit since then!
I live about an hour's drive away from the place.
