Gonna take a lot of flack for this, but, in my lifetime, gotta say Donald Trump. 5 reasons why:

    3) Promises made, promises kept.

This gave me a good laugh.

I'm laughing too, all the way to my retirement fund. hahahaha

Since I doubt you're listening I won't waste time going into details. Let it just be said: I think you're a troll. Here's your FLACK.

Well heaven forbid, someone else has a different opinion.

Trump is Elliot Carver in all but name. Power mad megolmaniac. I just hope he doesn't bump his wife off.

Hence he calls anything unflattering to himself "fake news" at best and "the enemy of the people" at worst. Free speech is his enemy, not the people's.

A few people do support Trump; his core base always will. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, of course. But those of us who do find Trump totally unfit to be president are also allowed our reactions, too. Much more to come. Just keep it all civil enough is what I ask.

My favorite president during my lifetime would be JFK.

I do see your correlation with, what Trump calls "fake news". Unfortunately, "fake news" has been around since "news" was created. Trump is old and rich enough to call it out and challenge false/biased reporting solely designed for boosting ratings and airtime (a la Elliot Carver). Remember how unfairly 'journalists' treated the likes of Princess Diana, and Michael Jackson, for decades, just to name a few. And they got away with it. Not what I'd classify as the 'peoples news'.

I am tempted to say "The next one", as they haven't screwed up yet.

Lincoln? A canny, cunning politician, not above the cut and thrust of everyday politics but still able to steer a clear course with a steady vision. He saved the US and helped end the shameful crime of slavery, although the country and South in particular are still a very long way from having faced up to its legacies.

Jimmy Carter seems a very decent man - perhaps the most upright and moral person to have held the office. He was undone by one unfortunate military mishap - he made a sound call, something went wrong on the mission and he lost the next election. Politics is crazy. But his legacy is greater than many realise - his farsighted policies helped kick start silicon valley and the tech revolution.

FDR obviously a legend for having helped defeat fascism and save the free world. Not sure his 4 terms in office reflects all that well on him but I suppose it was an exceptional moment in history.

All tax cuts favor the rich, no way of getting around that. Btw, system knows that's its the rich/investors, who create jobs, not poor or middle class. Who in turn pay taxes to fund social services. Can't penalize them for that.

Yes, they create jobs... elsewhere (in India, Pakistan, China), not in the "rich countries" (like the US, the EU and so on. Because it's cheaper to build their products there than here. Especially when it comes to paying the workers. Plus, tax cuts never benefited the middle class. And I'm talking from experience here. How many times have I seen a tax cut which I thought was going to lead to a lowering of the price of something, only to realize that the price didn't get any lower in the end ?

One problem with Trump is that his lies are consistently inconsistent. He just pulls whatever nonsense feels right at the time out of his @$$ and states it as if it were fact, and Faux Fox News just says "yupyupyup..." and after a while it's hard to keep up with which lie was which. Nonetheless, it is stone cold fact, that at several points in the recent past, Trump has promised that his tax plans would benefit the middle class at the expense of himself and people like him. Here's one link back to 2017 with DJT claiming he'd be hurt by his own tax plan: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/trump-says-the-gop-tax-plan-would-make-him-a-big-loser-prove-it/2017/11/09/c34570d8-c4be-11e7-84bc-5e285c7f4512_story.html?utm_term=.3deec63d1515

The American naivity in trusting the goodwill of rich business owners is almost charming. We are talking about people that make fortunes out of greed and who demonstrate a clear cynicism in running their businesses, yet people genuinly believe that if they just get those sweet tax cuts they have been asking for they will suddenly get a rush of immense compassion and rase vages and invest in welfare for the workers they previously neglected. A connection between tax cuts for big businesses and economical growth has never been proved, yet it is stated as fact. It is fascinating how people have sucumbed to the ideology of the rich and powerful, idolizing them and putting their lives in their hands.
