With the international break finally over, managers have had to have a look at their teams and captaincy again. For gameweek 8, most managers in our league have captained Haaland, who's backed by nine managers. Salah is the only other player captained by more than one manager, picked by four managers. Good luck everyone!
I hate to say it, but do did I! :))
Damn. I was considering a -4 to bring in Son…
Watching highlights, can't really argue with Saliba's red, 10 man Arsenal had some good chances to score.
Bad mistake leading to the pen, Arsenal had a bit of a shocker it seems.
Slightest bit overdramatic there. We lost two games to both Fulham and West Ham last year back to back and still ended up in the race till the last day. Never mind that Liverpool are playing a strong Chelsea side tomorrow meaning that they could drop points.
And even if City win it means that the two worst cases are either 4th (and three points off the top) or 3rd (and four points off the top). That's with thirty games to play, a Rodri-less City and a Liverpool that a) haven't really been tested among the big boys, and b) Lost at home to Nottingham Forest. We've certainly put ourselves in quite a bad position but it's not over yet.
And if any absence would hurt us I don't think it'd be Saliba. I think Saka offers so much creativity, not just from open-play but from set-pieces, where we lacked any sort of threat today. Especially in the big games where we seem to score exclusively from set pieces. Odegaard is though a big miss in terms of open-play ability but I believe Nwaneri has looked good from the bench in cameos and hopefully he starts against Shakhtar and plays himself into the weekend team.
Arteta desperately needs to change the team for Liverpool, that's for sure. 11v11 we were poor and I still don't get why Sterling was bought nor why Partey is still at the football club.
A football podcast I listen to, outlined a scenario some weeks ago, that if Arsenal lost against Spurs and City, Arsenal would have been out of the title race that early into the season, and looking at the schedule City and Liverpool had in that period, it was easy to agree with that. Now we're in a similar position, where with Liverpool winning against a Chelsea team that, despite looking good, is still finding itself, and City, that are City after all – with or without Rodri, will steamroller the opposition with a Haaland in the form of his life. Essentially, Arsenal can't afford to drop points.
I really like the look of Nwaneri, but if he was the solution to Arsenal's problems right now, I think Arteta might have started him, despite the age and all that. I definitely hope he will be a great player for the future though.
I agree 100% that Arteta needs to make changes though (something he doesn't do that often). I'm not sure about Sterling either, but I'm not writing him off just yet. Partey hasn't become the player we hoped he'd be, and he's definitely an issue in midfield. I'd easily start Jorginho instead of him.
It is still early days and Liverpool and City will stumble at some point, Arsenal not getting a number 9 in I think will hurt them ultimately.
City without Rodri will impact them at some point, looking at the top 3 or 4 it could be one of those seasons where injury's later on will dictate who wins it.

Man United actually played quite well yesterday, it will count for nothing if we can not put a run of good wins together.
I am hoping Liverpool v Chelsea is a goal fest as I am having a bad GW, my team is limping to points at the moment I need to transfer around 5 players out.
Just as I typed that Foden is coming on.
City get a free kick a bit dubious to me right on the edge of the box...
What the hell is Kovavic doing, Wolves players got sucked in and gets a yellow. City get away with a lot IMO.
I don't care if Haaland blanks I want Wolves to nick a winner, as a side note Haaland has done absolutely nothing in this game.
Silva was clearly obstructing keeper, what a joke.
City win.
The lack of a proper number 9 is Arsenal's biggest issue in attack. Jesus is injury prone, and Havertz is good, but not a traditional striker. They really need to nail the upcoming transfer windows to compete for trophies.
I expect Liverpool might stumble in some games, but like we saw today, City can have an off day and still get the three points…
Chelsea looking the better team, Liverpool very much a counter attaching side from what I have seen so far, playing like this at home is not typical Liverpool.
Liverpool are reminding me of United under Ole.
Salah shoots... scores. 1 - 0 to Liverpool.
Jota goes off injured, Nunez on.
No pen right decision.
Come on Chelsea go on and win this now.
Curtis had made those late runs a few times before the goal Chelsea should have been switched on.
Chelsea ran out out steam certainly after the subs, good win for Liverpool they know how to grind out results serious contenders.
Worryingly good form for Liverpool right now…
Sancho subbed off early did nothing.
I don't get the Neto signing he rarely goes past a man and his goals and assists are poor.
Neto was heavily linked with Arsenal too, before his move to Chelsea. Don't know how much truth there was to those links, but I can understand why he was linked with a move. He's been good for Wolves when fit. Not sure how he'll fit in Chelsea's huge squad though.
Hmm nothing is flagged about Diaz on FPL, a Man United fan channel announced the news will have to check SKY.
Haven't seen anything about Diaz being injured yet ?
Was watching Liverpool train on YT yesterday and Diaz looked good.
What Man United fan channel did you see it on ?
Arsenal injury crisis worsens after Riccardo Calafiori is substituted with knee problem against Shakhtar Donetsk on eve of Premier League title showdown with Liverpool
